Our focus for Making Jesus Real this week was recognising the qualities of a W.E.S.T. person.
A WEST person is someone who is:
WELCOMING – greets people and invites them to join in activities
ENGOURAGING – gives positive or constructive feedback or supports others when they try new things.
SAYS SORRY – takes responsibility when they have made a poor choice and apologises for hurt caused.
THANKS – a WEST person is grateful for the people and opportunities in their lives. The say thank you to others and give thanks to God.
The students worked in their class groups and discussed how they can demonstrate those qualities at school, home and in the community, The students participated in an activity to ‘Get to Know Others’ better and role played ways to be welcoming. Their challenge this week is to greet others, outside their usual friendship group and to try and say ‘Thank You’ ten times a day – both at home and at school.
Dear God
Please help me to be a WEST person.
May I be welcoming to others and include others in games and activities at school.
Help me to use words of praise and encouragement with others in my class.
Help me to recognise when I have made a poor choice and be brave enough to admit my wrong doings and say sorry.
May I always be grateful for the opportunities I have been given and remember to say thank you.
I ask this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen
