Principal's Report

Welcome back to Term 2 – I hope all of our St Joseph’s families had a lovely Easter and enjoyed the beautiful weather that was around for most of the holidays.

The calendar is already looking full for the next couple of weeks, so please remember to check the newsletter and calendar for what is happening.

We are excited that the four Catholic schools in this region have employed Mrs Helen Mulholland to be a full time relief teacher.  At times all four schools struggle to find relief teachers, so this is fantastic for all schools to be able to fill that need.  Priority will obviously go to schools that have staff away due to illness, long service leave, Professional development etc.  Helen is with St Joseph’s for three days this week and we hope she feels very welcome.

Term 2 means students need to be in winter uniform – and school hats must be worn at all times.  Some children are still wearing shorts and this week that is OK as it is still quite warm, however next week if we can transition to full winter uniform that would be fantastic.  A friendly reminder to please label ALL pieces of your child’s uniform – it makes it difficult to chase up missing jumpers and jackets if there are no names on items.

This term all Canberra Goulburn schools have transitioned to using Compass which is a system that has capabilities to replace the many different platforms that schools are currently using for permission notes, semester reports, excursion costs and attendance notes to name a few.  At this stage we are using Compass to mark the attendance of all students.  At a later stage this year the parent portal will be available which will make it much easier for parents to notify the school of their child’s absence as it will all be done online.  At this stage please remember that you need to notify the school within 7 school days of your child’s absence.  This can be done via email, phone call or note to your child’s teacher.

We look forward to another great term of learning at St Joseph’s,

Kirsty Beavan
