Principal's Report

public_speaking.jpg

Last week Laura, Fred, Culley, Arthur, Charlie and Ainslie participated in the Western Region Public Speaking competition.  Due to restrictions the competition was held online so was very different this year.  All of the children did exceptionally well to make it through to this level and should be congratulated on their wonderful speeches and the way in which they were delivered.  Fred from Year 4 made it through to the Archdiocese Public speaking with his speech “The best invention” about the bugle cattle/sheep system created by Temple Grandin – congratulations Fred this is a tremendous achievement.

I have shared the following information with the Community Council earlier this week, but I just wanted to share correspondence that I had from the Year 5/6 adjudicator on the student’s speeches, who was really impressed with their content.

Your students were amazing today. They did so well.

I was really touched by the genuineness of their content. It was clear that the bushfire have impacted these students from the way it featured in their speeches. I would love to do something for the community.

I am a painter. Would you accept an artwork that could perhaps be raffled off to raise funds for the school community as part of your rebuilding Stronger Together?

Just let me know if appropriate and I will create something and send down to you.

Kindest regards

Pamela Cohen

It was so lovely to receive her email, and I have taken her up on her very generous offer.  I am continually blown away by our wonderful students and their amazing resilience after what really has been a challenging two years.

I know Mrs Murray has written in the newsletter about the children receiving the first Eucharist on the weekend which was a lovely liturgy.  A big thank you also to Mrs Murray for preparing the students, and to the children who were so reverent and did a wonderful job participating in the Mass.

Have a great week,
