Aboriginal Perspective and Cultural Awareness
Yesterday, we were very pleased to welcome Kerry O'Callaghan and Katrina Cambridge to our school. Since Covid we have had several attempts at getting them here and finally we succeeded. Kerry is the Aboriginal Education Specialist from the Catholic Education Office and Katrina is the Aboriginal School and Community Officer, also from CE.

They joined staff at our staff meeting and showed us how to use some resources in the classroom to assist in imbedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our programmes. Yesterday they spent an hour with each class. A great selection of artefacts were presented to the students, they were able to handle them all and discuss what they thought they were and the possible uses. It was a very informative day and the students enjoyed it thoroughly. Kerry and Katrina were very impressed with the behaviour of all the classes and their great enthusiasm to learn and engage in the activities.
We look forward to having them back again soon.
