Religious Education News
Welcome to Week 6! We are now in the second week of Lent and the children have been observing changes to their prayer spaces and the Church during the Lenten season.
Purple (or violet) is the colour of the Lenten season. Cloths on our prayer tables and the Tabernacle cover in the church are now purple. During Lent flowers and other decorations are removed from the church as well. During Lent we focus on prayer, almsgiving and fasting.
Project Compassion 2022
Caritas Australia is the international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia. Each year, Project Compassion runs during the six weeks of Lent. Project Compassion is an opportunity for students to learn about life in different countries through personal stories of people who have participated in Caritas programs.
The theme of Project Compassion 2022 is ‘For All Future Generations’. It is an expression of hope and reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. It invites us to make the world a better place by working together now and finding long-term solutions to global issues.
Students are welcome to bring in small change to put into the box. We encourage students to discover the power of giving and the impact that their contribution, however big or small, can have in the lives of others. When we lend a hand to someone in need, they will go on to help others and make better opportunities for future generations.
St Joseph’s Day
We look forward to celebrating the Feast Day of our school patron St Joseph with mass on the 18th March. After mass we invite parents to stay for a picnic lunch on the oval.
School Mass Sunday 20 March - we still need volunteers for our school mass. Please let me know by the end of the week if you are able to attend.
Have a lovely week,
- Stacey Braun
