Principal's Report

Another great week at St Joseph’s with lots of learning by both staff and students.  Mrs Murray and myself were in Cootamundra on Monday attending a Challenging Learning coaching workshop.  One of the key messages from the day was again regarding challenge and the path that learners can take.  If learners take an easy path they will probably achieve at an acceptable level that has not needed much effort on behalf of the learner.  Choosing to take on a challenge and push yourself out of your comfort zone will mean that you have a much deeper learning and higher level of understanding as a result of the discomfort or ‘wobble’ that you experienced to get there.

Too often we try to make our children’s lives easier, do things for them and get them to choose the easier road.  Schools can also be guilty of this.  We need to give our learners the opportunity to struggle and to wobble in order to learn and to do so will yield the greatest result.  Experiencing mistakes, hurdles, obstacles and challenging situations builds stronger more resilient learners that know how to take on challenges that come before them.  Something to think about – not only in the school setting but life in general!

Have a great week.

Kind Regards
