What is Confirmation?
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the second of the three sacraments of Christian initiation.
Confirmation completes Baptism, by which in the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism Oil, which first happened at Baptism, we are confirmed with the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The grace we received at Baptism is deepened and strengthened in Confirmation.
We are reminded of our participation in the ministry and mission of Jesus, and strengthened to follow Jesus more closely. In this sacrament we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. We are given special gifts that help us to live in the way Jesus teaches. We grow in our friendship with Jesus. We begin to love Jesus more deeply. Like Baptism, Confirmation can only be received once.
Have a lovely week,
