Principal's Report

Dear parents and carers,

I hope that parents took up the opportunity last night to join The Resilience Project’s parent and community presentation.  I am really excited that St Joseph’s is participating in this wonderful project that aims to improve the mental health and well-being of young people by promoting the values of empathy, gratitude, and mindfulness.

As part of the program, students will participate in a series of activities and exercises designed to help them develop skills and strategies to cope with challenges and build resilience. These activities will include mindfulness practices, gratitude exercises, and opportunities to develop empathy through community service and other projects.

Research has shown that the skills and values promoted by The Resilience Project can have a positive impact on mental health and well-being, as well as academic performance and relationships. We believe that by participating in this program, our students will be better equipped to face the challenges of today's world and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

We encourage parents to support their children's participation in The Resilience Project by engaging in conversations about empathy, gratitude, and mindfulness at home. You will also see information in the newsletter to support parents in this process.

Staff are looking forward to working with our students and families to promote resilience and well-being in our school community.

Adelong show

A huge thank you to all our wonderful parents who helped organise and run our food stall at the Adelong Show.  Your help is always appreciated, and it is great to support a community event such as the Adelong Show.

Compass and Tech 1 training

Mrs Crampton and I have spent the last two days in Young training in Compass and Tech 1.  You would be aware that the new finance system is vastly different from the previous system and its roll over has been a process that has required a lot of training and support from Catholic Education staff.

There have been many changes for parents with the roll out and implementation of both of these systems, one of which is the way that absences are declared and how school events and excursions are approved and paid.  We encourage all parents to use the parent portal to notify absences and approve permission for your child/ren to attend events.  We are no longer required to accept paper copies and we are moving towards a paperless system.  BPay is our preferred method for school fee payments – please keep in mind that using Compass pay means high transaction fees are passed onto the school.

Have a lovely week
