Principal's Report
Welcome back to Term 2.
A big thank you to those students who joined us in the holidays for the Anzac Day March. The children represented their school well and it was wonderful to see students participate so respectfully on the day. Thank you to Mrs Campbell who joined us and also to Rick Singh who very generously donated juices for all of the students at the completion of the march.
In the holidays some small improvements and changes took place at the school. New basketball back boards were installed on the courts kindly purchased by our Community Council. A huge thank you to Jason and Jack Beavan for putting them up – they look great and the kids have definitely been practicing their shots! The stairs from the 4/5/6 classroom into the staffroom were removed to give some much needed space in the staffroom and another work area for staff to utilize. A big clean up also took place to condense teacher resources, teaching materials, games, text books etc and ensure that we are using every available space to work more effectively. We have received quotes to install new LED battons in classrooms and work areas to not only phase out fluorescent lights in the school but to reduce our electricity bills as part of a government incentive.
St Joseph’s is celebrating Catholic Schools Week this week – it was wonderful to see parents join us for Mass today and to come into the classrooms for our Learning showcase. Our students are extremely dedicated to their learning, so for them to be able to share with you their achievements, progress and samples of work and activities was fantastic.
Newsletters will be published fortnightly on the Tuesday of even weeks of term. There are many ways that St Joseph’s informs our families about all that is happening in the school. It is important that all families are reading the newsletter, checking their emails, compass app and facebook to keep up to date. With so many ways to communicate now I am confident that all families are being kept in the loop of what is happening at St Joseph’s.
Have a great week
