Counsellor Profile & Service 

My name is Lucinda Clay and I have recently joined the Marymead CatholicCare Student & Family Counselling team. I began my counselling journey in 2014 with Australian Institute of Family Counselling in Canberra. Over the years I have had experience working in Mental Health, Aged Care and Pastoral Care. For the last 7 years I have been working as a Counsellor in Private Practice supporting adults, families and children. 

For many of the students I will be a familiar face. For those families who don't know me, I began working part-time at St. Joseph's as the Student Wellbeing Officer/Chaplain in 2020. Over the past three and half years, I have enjoyed supporting staff, students and families and witnessing the St. Joseph's welcoming, caring and supportive spirit. 

What is the Counselling Service? 

Marymead CatholicCare’s Student and Family Counsellors provides school counselling in Catholic and Independent schools throughout Canberra and Regional NSW. This service aims to support students to achieve academic success, psychological health, and social and emotional wellbeing. 

Generally, students engaged in the service receive 6 to 8 individual therapy sessions which are provided at school. All students who wish to access the service require a current referral and parent/guardian consent must be obtained prior to students engaging in the service. Once a referral has been received, I will contact the parents/guardian to further discuss individual student needs, outline the counselling process and answer any questions you may have.  

I am looking forward to continuing to support St. Joseph's by providing the Student & Family Counselling service. I will be here every Monday and for Term 3 I will be providing additional Wednesdays.
