Principal's Report

It was wonderful to have Archbishop Christopher Prowse celebrate Mass with us on Sunday 18th August.  The Archbishop spoke fondly of the new build and discussed how fabulous it was to see the new school as you enter the grounds, and how it is a welcomed addition to our community.  He is looking forward to opening our new buildings officially in 2025.  Throughout his Graces’ homily he urged the Parish to be a welcoming community and to embrace the changes that the Catholic Church is experiencing.  Our new school will bring many students – some Catholics and some that are not – but as welcoming communities we will embrace the changes.

Staff and students had a wonderful time last Wednesday for our Book Week Parade.  All of the students looked great in their costumes – a big thanks to parents for making it all happen! A big thank you to Mrs Campbell for organising the Parade and for the afternoon trivia and ‘magical’ guessing competition which was a real hit with the students.  It was wonderful to be joined by our Adelong Pre school friends who had a short visit due to the weather!

Good luck to Kruz who is competing at the Archdiocesan Athletics carnival in Canberra today in the 100m, 10 yrs.  Our small schools relay team bypass the Archdiocesan carnival and will head of to the MacKillop carnival on the 25th September.

Our Kindergarten 2025 Orientation process kicks off on Wednesday night at 6 pm for our Information evening.  We will have our Orientation days this term on:

Tuesday 3 rd September 9.30 – 11.30 am and
Tuesday 10th September 9.30 – 11.30 am.  We look forward to welcoming our Kindergarten 2025 students to St Joseph’s.

Staff have been working with their HITP coach (High Impact Teaching Practices) today.  Sommer demonstrated a Spelling Mastery lesson as well as observed teachers and gave them some feedback on their practices.  Sommer also ran a staff meeting this afternoon on the Science of Learning in Practice.

It is magpie breeding season and students have been asked to stay away from certain spots on the playground where they are nesting.  Magpies are protected species and we need to keep students safe as well as being mindful of our native birds.
