Principal's Report

It was so lovely to welcome our Mums, Grandmas and special visitors into our new classrooms for our Special Mother’s Day morning tea on Wednesday.  All students sang a special song to our mums that was complimented by our wonderful students on the glockenspiels!!! A big thank you to Ms Dawson for her musical expertise. Students were really excited to share this special event with the wonderful women in their lives.  Thank you to all the special ladies that came to celebrate with us.  Our special visitors mean so much to our students and we appreciate all that you do for the students of St Joseph’s. Miss McInerney organised the special Mother’s day event and we thank her for making the morning so special.

It was a very productive Friday afternoon at St Joseph’s last week for our Working bee.  A huge thank you to all the families who got so many jobs done – planting the hedge, constructing shelves for our new garden shed, putting together new bench seats and tables, spreading softfall, raking leaves and adding sand to the new pavers.  Other parents who couldn’t be there at the working bee have offered to do some other jobs that were on the list.  We are very grateful to have such generous parents who are willing to give up their time to ensure our school is looking fantastic.

Staff have had staff meetings facilitated by members of CE staff over the last two weeks. Shaun Dutallis -School Support Lead worked with teaching and administration staff on Compass and its many capabilities.  Chris DeBritt  - Senior Officer Educational performance unpacked student data and platforms that enables teachers to see all student data in the one place and academic achievement and growth over time.

Our 5/6 students will head off to Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo next week for the next part in their Future Rural Leaders Program.  Students are so lucky to be participating in the Zoo snooze and real life conservation and research that is relevant to their local area and the platypus. We wish 5/6 all the best on their adventures and look forward to learning about their wonderful excursion.

Bella our soon to be therapy dog was at school today along with staff from Dog Education Centre.  Emma and Brydie went into every classroom with Bella and Mrs Campbell and discussed with the children how we need to keep Bella safe when she is at school and the ways in which we can approach and pat her.  We can’t wait for Bella to come into school for two days a week, really soon!

Blessings for a great week
