Welcome to Week 9 – we are heading towards the end of what has been a very busy term.  The children have been very engaged with their learning throughout the term and I am sure they will continue to maintain focus for the last couple of weeks.

Next term staff will participate in more Professional Development by Challenging Learning.  The first day of Term 2 is a Pupil Free Day and all staff will travel to Cootamundra for an Inspirational Day facilitated by Challenging Learning.  As mentioned before Challenging Learning is all about increasing the level of engagement that children have with their learning and most importantly it is about challenging both teachers and children to improve and do better. 

Terms such as cognitive wobble and the learning pit are all phrases that I hope your children are coming home and talking about.  They are words that students use to describe the feelings they experience when their thinking is being challenged or when they are learning a new concept or when considering new learnings and concepts that they may not understand YET.  This is a good thing – the highest form of learning occurs after we have ‘wobble’ or after being in the learning pit.  To encourage our children to take risks and make mistakes is a message that hopefully resonates both at home and at school.
