Lent: We are now in the second week of Lent and the children have been observing the changes to their prayer spaces and the Church during the Lenten season.

Purple or violet is the prescribed liturgical colour of Lent. Prayer cloths, the Tabernacle cover and Father’s vestments are now violet. The use of the colour purple helps to evoke a mood of simplicity and austerity. During Lent flowers and other decorations are removed from the Church as well. We do not say the Alleluia or the Gloria during Mass in Lent, but will rejoice again at the Easter Vigil Mass.

Project Compassion: Lent is a time to care for others less fortunate than ourselves. Year 6 have decided to fundraise for Caritas – Project Compassion by holding an Easter Egg raffle. Tickets will be sold each Friday when the Tuckshop is open. Tickets are 50c and there will be a selection of Easter prizes to win. Students are welcome to purchase tickets each week, but if families would rather send in some money to purchase bulk tickets, please pop the money in an envelope clearly marked Easter Raffle Money, (with your family name) and Year 6 will fill out your tickets for you.

St Joseph’s Feast Day: Next Thursday, March 19^th is a special day for our school, as we celebrate our Patron Saint’s Feast Day.  Fr George will celebrate Mass at 12:00pm and families and Parish members are welcome to join us. If you have time, please bring a packed lunch and join our school community for a picnic lunch afterwards.
