You will be aware of announcements earlier today regarding the release of various lockdown conditions and possible return to school for some NSW Local Government Areas.
Please be advised that we await clear directives from NSW Health and Catholic Education Canberra before we are able to release any advice or plans. As soon as we have details it will be provided to all of our St Joseph’s families via a Schoolzine email.
What a busy week it has been at St Joseph’s this week. Monday was pet day – lot’s of pets were online with the students – I saw a calf, dogs, a duck and cats which was fantastic!
Wellbeing Wednesday was a great way to take a break from all the hard work that the students and parents have been doing and to have a break from their screens. There are fantastic stories of activities that everyone did on Wednesday and it was a great opportunity to take a break and have a great day.
We have had some very generous parents that were also looking after staff well being on Wednesday with dropping off some yummy cakes, purchasing coffee and cake for staff and also providing vouchers for staff. Thank you so much for your support, it is greatly appreciated and fantastic that as a community we are looking after one another.
Today is R U OK day and as I jumped on the 4/5/6 daily check in this morning, it was good to see everyone dressed in yellow. Our students do a great job at looking after one another and checking in with their friends.
We look forward to another online assembly tomorrow morning that will be run by our Year 6 students. Please access the assembly as per last week. Don’t forget to have some jokes ready to share.
Have a great week, and our fingers are crossed that we will see you all very soon.

Yesterday marked the ‘Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary’, the day on which we commemorate the birth of Mary, the Mother of God.
This is an unusual feast day, because it celebrates a birthday. Traditionally feast days are commemorated on the date of the Saint’s death, however Mary, Jesus and St John the Baptist are celebrated on the day of their birth.
The Catholic Church celebrates the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary on its traditional fixed date of September 8, nine months after the December 8 celebration of her Immaculate Conception, as the child of Saints Joachim and Anne.
Joachim and Ann loved God very much, and they were filled with gratitude to God for the gift of a child. They raised Mary as a child of God, teaching her to love and serve God. When the angel Gabriel told Mary that she had been chosen to be the Mother of Jesus, she already had great faith in God. Her strong faith and trust allowed her to say yes to God’s plan for her.
This special Feast Day is a day to honour Mary and remember that God has created each person with love and with a call to something very special in life.

In Drama, students role played the story “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”. In Religion, students spent some time outside looking at God’s wonderful creation and wrote a thank you prayer. Lot’s of fun this week!
