It was so lovely to celebrate our end of year Mass and Awards presentation yesterday with our school community. The children did a beautiful job of presenting the mass, and our Year Six students ran the Awards presentation so well. Again a huge thank you to Mrs Murray for preparing the mass, it was a great way to conclude the 2021 school year.
Congratulations to all of the award recipients on the acknowledgement of your fantastic efforts and achievements. All of the St Joseph’s students should be proud of their progress and achievements in 2021 – your dedication to your school work and giving of your best is to be commended.
Yesterday I spoke of the new vision and mission statement that will be implemented in 2022. Much time and development has gone into the process of devising a new vision and mission statement for St Joseph’s. This will be the phased in at the beginning of 2022.
Our 2022 school leaders were announced yesterday and we are looking forward to working with them in their new roles.
Environmental leaders – Beau Miller and Mason Miller
Sports leader – Preston Leake
Well being leaders – Nate Annetts and Riley Maher
School captains – Toby Roots and Arthur Roche
This will be the last newsletter for the year – so have a wonderful Christmas break and wishing you all the Blessings of the Festive Season.
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
Congratulations to all the children on their wonderful participation in Mass yesterday. It was lovely to come together as a school community and give thanks for the many blessings we have received this year, as well as farewell our Year 6 class.
The Gospel reading yesterday focused on the importance of giving thanks and acknowledging those who help you throughout life’s journey. As my role as Religious Education Co-ordinator comes to an end, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mrs Beavan for her leadership and support, and to our Parish Priests, Father George and Father Namora for their spiritual guidance.
All the staff work together so well at St Joseph’s, and this has certainly made my role as REC much easier. Thank you to all the staff for the many ways in which you have contributed to the Religious Life of the school. A special thank you to the staff that teach Religion, for the time and enthusiasm they have devoted to writing and developing the new RE units over the past two years. It has been a steep learning curve and I appreciate the hours staff have spent developing their own professional knowledge to enable them to deliver high qualities learning experiences to their class groups.
Thank you to all the students and families for your support, especially the fundraising events that focused on developing the children’s understanding of Mission and Justice. I appreciate the generosity and support you have given to a range of fundraising events, including the Vinnies Christmas Appeal.
I would like to wish all the students, families and staff a very happy and holy Christmas, and I look forward to working with Miss Braun as REC in 2022.
May the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, bring peace, love and happiness to you and your family members.

School reports are available via Compass. Paper copies will no longer be available, you will logon to Compass to access your child's school report, a paper copy can be printed at home if you wish.
Students who will be in Yrs 2-6 in 2022 will require their own device.
The requirements that the school suggests are that the device has a good battery life, wireless wi-fi and the preference would be for a laptop or chrome book rather than a tablet. Somewhere in the middle price range – not cheap and nasty but not top of the line as there really is not a need to spend a lot of money. Windows 10 S machines can be troublesome, however it is suggested that Google chrome is the browser for your device.
If purchasing a laptop for your child is going to place financial pressure on the family, we ask that you contact Mrs Beavan to discuss. There will be chrome books available for students to use until such time a laptop can be purchased. Please let me know if you have any queries about this, happy to help out.
School uniforms are available through Wendellie on Wynyard in Tumut. If you would like to place an order for uniforms in 2022 they are asking for orders to be placed as soon as possible. Orders can be phoned through on 6947 6500 or by email orderswendellie@gmail.com.
Yr 2/3 finished their fantastic trash dragons last week, they did a great job and had lots of fun creating them. We have also included some great poems on 'The Colours of a Sunburnt Country' that they have been working on.
All executive positions on the St Joseph’s Community Council will be declared vacant at the beginning of the 2022 school year.
