Dear Parents and Carers,
The busyness of the term continues with students attending various events. This week there are students attending the Rugby Gala Day in Tumut and Archdiocesan Rugby League Trials. Next week our successful swimmers will be participating in the NSWPSSA carnival against the best small school relay teams from around the state!
It has been such a busy term and I am sure that students, parents and teachers are looking forward to the holidays. I would encourage families to have some down time, to let the children rest and recuperate ready for Term 2!
Cross Country
The Western Region Cross Country will be held on Friday 29th April (Week 1 Term 2) at Gundagai. Students who received a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place ribbon in their age group have received automatic entry. Students who were placed 4th or 5th in their age group may participate if they wish. A teacher from St Joseph’s will be present on the day but parents will be responsible for transport. Permission notes for this event will go out via Compass. Participation is not compulsory but nominations need to be submitted to the event convenor by 8th April (next Friday) so we will need notes to be returned by Thursday 7th April if your child wishes to participate.
Morning Supervision
A gentle reminder that supervision of students at St Joseph’s begins at 8:40am, so it is advisable for students not to arrive before this time. It is understandable if this happens occasionally but should not be a regular occurrence.
ANZAC Day
St Joseph’s School will be participating in the annual Adelong ANZAC Day commemoration on Monday 25th April. Mrs Murray and Miss Soulsby will be present to march with the students. Our school leaders will walk with the school banner and lay a wreath at the cenotaph. At this stage it will be summer uniform but if the weather turns cold please dress your children in their winter uniform. Students are asked to assemble on the footpath near the Bendigo Bank, with a time to be confirmed.
Term 2 2022
Staff will return on Tuesday 26th April. This will be a pupil free day. The staff will be participating in a Spirituality Day with the McAuley and St Patrick’s staff in Tumut.
Students will return to school on Wednesday 27th April.
Jewellery
A safety reminder that students should not wear dangly or loopy type earrings to school. As children play, a stray finger could hook onto the earring and do serious damage.
God bless,
Katrina McGrath
Acting Principal
I look forward to celebrating our Easter Ecumenical Service next Thursday at 12:15pm. After the service, we will have our Easter Hat Parade followed by lunch. Please make your Easter Hats at home and bring them to school next Thursday. We will draw the Easter Raffle at the parade. Thank you to all the families who have donated items and purchased tickets.
Our Year 6 leaders are holding an Easter Egg raffle to raise funds for Project Compassion – Caritas.
Caritas Australia is the international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia.
In class we have been learning how our donations can help people gain skills, education and basic needs such as food, water and health care in vulnerable communities. The Project Compassion stories highlight the Catholic Social Teaching principles and how to live the Gospel values.
Have a lovely week,
- Stacey Braun

Kindergarten/Year 1 class created some fantastic Harmony Day artwork, they used bubble wrap and paint to create a these beautiful doves.
Yr 2/3 have been working very hard, in Literacy they are writing narrative texts based on a picture stimulus. After working very hard on their narrative texts they enjoyed a dance movement break. Well done 2/3!
