Dear Parents and Carers,
We are almost half way through Term 3 and I want to take the time to acknowledge the efforts of our families that support what we do at St Joseph’s. From Community Council involvement and events, participation in our school masses, the mowing and grounds roster to supporting children with reading and learning at home, everything that is done (big and small) all contribute to making our school community the amazing place it is. THANK YOU!
Book Week Parade
Next Wednesday, St Joseph's have decided to have their Book Week Parade at school (inside the tennis court area) at 9.30am. This information was also sent home via Compass. Originally, the plan was to limit the amount of people on site but with OH and S being a consideration, along with the fact that the parade will be outside, we have decided to amend our original plans.
Could we do our best to all ensure families know they are invited - a note will also go home with students to inform families. All we ask is that families are conscious moving from the gates, straight to the parade and that they remain vigilant with our Covid/health guidelines:
- using sanitiser
- wearing a mask (this is not an expectation)
- not to attend if you are feeling unwell
Thank you for your cooperation and effort throughout the term. I hope families are able to come along and enjoy the parade!
Book Fair
Our Book Fair stall (in conjunction with Book Week) has begun to be set up in the office. This will be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, preferably morning or afternoon, but also after our Book Week Parade. Parents are more than welcome to come in and buy books from the stall. If you are deciding to buy a book after the parade, could we once again be wary of social distancing inside the building.
Parent Information Night
Next Tuesday 23rd August, parents are invited to attend our 2023 Kinder Parent Information Night. This will be for any newly enrolled or prospective enrolments, however, we are also opening this invite to any families with potential 2024 Kinder students and other interested families. This will be in Miss Braun and Mrs Campbell’s room. We look forward to seeing you there!
Tumut Takes Two Fundraiser
On Friday 23rd September and Saturday 24th September Andrew Reynolds has very kindly (and bravely!) decided to take the stage to perform in this year’s Tumut Takes Two. We are extremely excited and grateful that his performance is raising funds for the improvement of our school.
We are just as proud of Culley, who assisted Andrew with the auctioning of their working dog, Jazz! Not only is this extremely generous of the Reynolds family but Cullie did an amazing job filming and piecing together footage that assisted the sale of their dog. Well done on your effort with this Culley!
If anyone wants to see Andrew’s performance live, tickets are on sale from Tumut radio station.
Enjoy the remainder of the week,
Ryan Forsyth
Acting Principal
Feast of the Assumption - 15th August
On Monday we participated in a School Mass in honour of the Feast of the Assumption. On the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, we commemorate the end of her earthly life and assumption into Heaven.
Thank you to the Year 2/3 children for leading a beautiful Mass. The Assumption of Mary is one of the most important events in the Christian community. This day is considered as the heavenly birthday of our Virgin Mary.
Sacrament Holy Communion - St James Church Adelong
The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be offered on the Sunday 6th November to students in Year 3. Please let me know your child would like to make this sacrament.

As we move through the term we are reminded of the following guidelines to ensure we minimise the spread of Covid-19 within our school community.
- Continue to remind students of practices that will minimise their chance of spreading and picking up germs (using tissues and disposing of them correctly, washing hands and sanitising where appropriate).
- If your child is unwell or experiencing Covid symptoms, for parents/guardians to keep them at home and ensure they utilise the RAT tests sent home to families on Tuesday. If your family need more, please contact the office.
- If your child tests positive, it is important that this is registered with NSW Health and the school is informed.
- It is recommended that close contacts stay at home where it is practical to do so. If students who are close contacts intend on going to school, it is important they complete a daily RAT each morning to minimise health risks to other members of the school community.
Year 2 parents please note that you can include books that have been read to your child at home or in class but you need to record the books yourself.
If you need your child’s login details, please email Mrs Dean on kerrie.dean1@cg.catholic.edu.au.
Working Dog Auction
Andrew Reynolds sold his beautiful and very talented dog 'Jazz' last Saturday at the Nutrien Wagga Wagga Working Dog Sale. Jazz had an excellent day and was sold for an amazing $3750 with all proceeds going to St Joseph's!
We cannot thank Andrew enough for his incredibly generous donation to our wonderful school.
Well done Jazz!!!
Winter Bites Batlow
St Joseph's will be catering with a food stall at Winter Bites Batlow, August 27th - 12 noon to 6pm.
Thank you to all of the families who have already offered to help at next weekend's Winter Bites Festival in Batlow. There are only a couple of spots left to fill so if anyone has the opportunity to lend a hand on the day your help will be greatly appreciated. All volunteers will receive free entry to the festival.
