Dear Parents and Carers,
We have made it halfway through what has been an extremely busy term for our entire community and I wanted to take the opportunity to say an enormous thank you to everyone for their efforts! Not only for the investment of time and energy into the people that matter most, our kids, but also for this same level of commitment to our community and the members that have been impacted by recent challenges. I would love for everyone to take a moment to look back and acknowledge the amazing things you are doing and the little wins in amongst these challenges. This is really important!
Ronald McDonald House - McHappy Day Fundraiser
We look forward to tomorrow’s fundraiser, ran by Beau, Mason and Riley. As previously mentioned, the boys have asked that students bring a gold coin and wear anything yellow, red or white along with either crazy socks or crazy hair (please no hair colour due to swimming). They will also have some delicious baked goods for sale at recess and lunch for 50c piece slice! Please click the attached link to find the Ronald McDonald House Charities webpage (click here) and gain further information on the amazing work of this organisation.
ICT Information
Thank you to those families that have contributed to the ICT survey (click link) that has been available over the previous 3 weeks. I will close this after the weekend.
Please see attached ‘Online Safety for Every Family’ (Click Link) courtesy of the eSafety Commissioner website. This information contains some really short videos and advice on topics such as ‘getting started with social media’, ‘safer online gaming’, ‘online bullying’ and general information.
Unexplained Absences
Thank you for the positive response to recent unexplained absences over the past week. This has certainly been appreciated and has allowed the school to fulfil this legal obligation in accounting for students and their attendance. Please see below documentation from the CECG Canberra Goulburn Enrolment Policy
‘Principals have a legal duty and a pastoral obligation to encourage attendance and respond to absenteeism. Frequent absences are detrimental to students’ education and may indicate a student’s need for support and/or pastoral care. CECG identifies the following levels of attendance:’
While I certainly acknowledge the complexities behind student attendance (particularly as Covid once again becomes increasingly prevalent), I also want to keep encouraging families to keep bringing children to school when fit to do so.
Enjoy the remainder of your week,
Ryan Forsyth
Acting Principal
Christmas Appeal
Christmas while a time of celebration can also be a difficult time of year for some. With the help from our St Joseph’s families, we can help to make Christmas a more positive time of year through the spirit of giving.
Families are invited to support the Christmas Appeal by donating non perishable items such as tea, coffee, milo, long life milk, long life juice, jelly, pancake mix, etc. Baskets are set up in the foyer for donated items. Hampers are then delivered to those in need in our community.

As all classes turn their attention to Biology for this last term in Science and Technology, Years 4/5/6 decided to focus on food and fibre production. We started by looking at the country of origin and source of the fibres which made their outer school wear, as well as all of the source of the ingredients which made their food eaten for a meal they had eaten over the last 24 hours. Arthur and Culley found creative ways to take photos of their shirt labels, while Nate and Preston worked well despite their shoe vapours!
Kindergarten - Year 6 will commence swimming tomorrow.
Students need to bring their swimmers with them, rashie, towel, thongs, hat, sunscreen and goggles.
Our next Community Council meeting will be held at school on Wednesday 23rd November at 6pm. All welcome to attend.
