Reminder - The Premier's Reading Challenge closes on the 30th August so any students that are participating must have their books recorded online before then. Please see Mrs Dean if you have any questions.
Each week we will feature students who will share books they are enjoying reading.
Fred: "The Treasures of Fairytales"
I have just started this book and I am reading Jack and the Beanstalk. I like reading the giant's part with expression "Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum"
Faith: "Magic - Animal Friends"
This story is about a bunny named Mia who lives in the snow and has a lot of adventures. Mia does ballet and wants to dance in the Winter Show.
Ainslie: "The Kensington Replitarium by N.J. Gemmell"
The book is about 4 kids who lived in the Australian Central Desert and they liked to aim their slingshots at the Police. Their dad went missing and they had to move to London to live with their Uncle... who hates kids!! This book was great 'hooking' chapter titles and descriptive words.
Nate: "KidGlovz by Julie Hunt"
This book is about a boy who plays piano really well. His uncle takes him away to make him famous but doesn't look after him very well. The book has really good illustrations.
During lunch time on a Wednesday, the boys have been practising for Trent Barrett. A big thank you to Paul Roche for coming in to train the boys. Trent Barrett is on the 28th of August in Gundagai.
Next Thursday 22nd August, there will be a NRL skills session with Adam Perry. We would like to thank Adam for coming to run this session at St Joseph's.
We had our last rugby session yesterday with Southern Inland Rugby. Yesterday we learnt how to kick properly and had a kicking competition. We loved doing these rugby sessions and can’t wait to do more next term.
Our Book Week parade is next Thursday, 22nd of August. The parade will start at 10am. Everyone is invited to come. The theme this year is ‘Reading is my Secret Power’. The library will be open before and after school all of next week for the Book Fair.
For Father’s Day this year, we are doing a tabloids sports afternoon on Friday 30th August. All Dad’s will be sent their invitation with more details next week. We hope everyone can come!

Many thanks for Jess Campbell for organising her friend John to bring his collection of items in for the children to have a play with.
Some of our Primary students have delivered their speeches to the school this week. We have listened to some fantastic speeches and look forward to hearing the rest of them at the start of next week. Speech topics this year are:

Yr 6: The View from the Top
In Library this term we are reading books shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year Awards.
After reading 'The Dress Up Box' by Patrick Guest, many of the students chose to have fun with the dress up box themselves!
