What a great term of learning the students at St Joseph’s have had. I would like to thank all staff and students for their dedication and commitment to learning throughout the term. It has been a busy term and it has been wonderful to share our learning and many events with parents; our Learning showcase, class masses, Athletics carnivals, Mortimer shield and Mother’s day paint and sip to name a few!
Reports/Parent teacher interviews
Reports went up on compass last week, and this week teachers have been busy with Parent/teacher interviews. Thank you to all those parents who have taken the opportunity to talk to your child’s teacher about their progress, strengths in their learning and how we can support their learning further. An interview is the best way to discuss all of these things and with no comments on the reports, the conversation is really valuable.
Uniform
It is fantastic to see the students making a big effort with their uniform. We have had two class rewards this term for the class that is in full school uniform and 2/3 have been that class – they have enjoyed 15 minutes extra time on the playground and a hot chip lunch. Great to see such pride in their uniform – Congratulations 2/3!
Sports for school grant
We have been successful for Term 3 with a grant to run AFL for six weeks. Each class will have a 45 minute session on a Friday beginning in Week 2. It’s great to play some sports that we may not normally have access to or be exposed to.
Open day
We had a successful Open Day last week, for families considering St Joseph’s in 2024. It is enrolment time, so if you have a child that will be in Kindergarten in 2024 you are welcome to come and get an enrolment pack and our next open day is coming up on 25th July – spread the word!
Visitors
I love having visitors in my office, and today K/1 were dressed in clothing that we believe people in Jesus’ time may have worn. They have been learning about What life was like in Jesus’ time.
There were many beards and long clothing that the students enjoyed wearing! Thanks for the visit K/1.
I hope everyone has a great rest and takes the time to recharge the batteries and we will see all students for the beginning of Term 3 on Tuesday 18th July.

Principal
Winter Woollies
We look forward to our ‘Winter Woollies’ day tomorrow, Wednesday 28th June. Students are invited to wear their ‘Winter Woollies’ (dressing gown, pyjamas, jacket, tracksuit pants, jumper, long socks, beanie, scarf etc) to school to support the Winter Appeal. Students are asked to donate winter items such as beanies, gloves, blankets, socks, jackets to support those in need this winter.
K/1 Mass
Well done to K/1 and Mrs Dean on presenting Mass last Tuesday. It was a lovely service and all students were so excited to read for the first time. Thank you to families, friends and parishioners for attending.
We thank Fr Joe for staying after Mass on Tuesday to train our new Altar Servers. Students are very eager to serve at Mass.
Reconciliation
The date for the Sacrament of Reconciliation is scheduled for Tuesday 5th September at 11.30pm, followed by a class Mass at 12pm. An information packet will be sent home early next term with more information on preparation sessions.
End of Term Prayer
We thank you Lord, for this term.
For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right; to be witnesses of our faith. Help
us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others, to be peacemakers in our family.
Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun. Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term. We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents and a community that cares for us.
May we always be conscious of you in our lives. Amen
Many thanks,
Stacey Braun
Religious Education Coordinator

We have a street stall coming up on the first Friday back of term 3 Friday 21st July. I have included a link to the roster below. It would be great if you could spare some time to sit on our street stall. Any baked goods or donations will be warmly welcomed.
In 4/5/6 students have enjoyed trivia this term. We do a round each day and the winners at the end of the week get a reward. Questions range from general knowledge, revision on content covered in class or riddles. Lochie, Sam and Billy were the winners and chose to have morning tea with Ms Braun!
Some of the students have picked their favourite question to ask our families. How many can you get?
Nicko - What school does Harry Potter go to?
Culley - What was the first sport played on the moon?
Alice - What is the main ingredient in vegemite?
Ollie - What has 2 arms, a face, no legs and no body?
Taylor - The cowgirl rode into town on friday, 3 days later she rode out on friday. How is this possible?
Braxton - What has a bottom at the top?
Laura - How many bones does a shark have?

ACARA is shifting to reporting NAPLAN using proficiency standards replacing previous band levels. The new proficiency standards will be exceeding, strong, developing and needs additional support. Naplan results for 2023 will be released to parents and schools early in Term 3. Please find more detailed information on the changes attached.
Reminder:
Please find the lunch order menu for Mondays from the Gold Rush Cafe.
