Welcome to Book Week!  It was a fabulous parade today and we were so glad to be joined by the Adelong Preschoolers for our book week activities.  There were some very creative costumes and a big thank you to all our parents who came along and for making the costumes. 

Our Trent Barrett boys have been busy training in readiness for next week when they head off to Gundagai.  A very special thank you to the Leake family who have kindly donated new playing shirts for the boys.  It is the first time that St Joseph’s will field our own team, so we are looking forward to wearing our new shirts.

Our Yr 6 sports leaders have been busy organising our Super dads afternoon next Friday 30 August.  Invitations went out yesterday, so if you are able to come (does not have to be a dad, can be a mum, pop or whoever would like to join in) please RSVP by next Wednesday to the office.

Rubbish Free

Just a reminder that St Joseph's is a 'rubbish free' school.  We provide a scrap bucket that food items can be placed in, however any packets etc., need to be taken back home.  This is to alleviate excess rubbish and the need for further bins at the school.

Reminder  -  The Premier's Reading Challenge closes on the 30th August so any students that are participating must have their books recorded online before then.  Please see Mrs Dean if you have any questions.

What a fantastic week we have had celebrating Book Week, lots of fun book characters to make a great parade followed by some activities to highlight the books studied.  A big thank you to the Preschool for joining us, it's always wonderful to have the preschoolers join our parade and activities.  Our book fair was a great success and we would like to thank our parents and grandparents for supporting it.  We will have more photos to follow on facebook.

Students have been completing addition war.  This is a one assignment task that is differentiated to cater for all maths levels in the classroom.

Public Speaking

Congratulations to Anna, Isliah, Hugh, Spencer, Taylani, Charlie, Toby and Arthur who will travel to Batlow for a 'speak off' against Batlow next Thursday at 9:30am.  One person from each year level will be selected to go to Western Region.  A permission note will go home in the next couple of days.

Well done to Culley, Ryan, Arthur and Primrose who received Student of the Week awards at last weeks assembly.

Happy Birthday to everyone who celebrated their birthday over the past few weeks.

Todd Woodbridge Cup

A fun day with great sportsmanship and some up and coming tennis players. Taylani and Jack they were selected from St Josephs for their skills and sportsmanship.

Trent Barrett Shield

Wishing all the students participating in the Trent Barrett Shield next week all the very best.  They have been training very hard and today they were lucky to have Simon from NRL development who came to run a skills session with the boys today.
