It is an extremely busy time at the moment and staff and students are working hard to complete assessments, finalise semester two reports, finish units of work and are also busy putting the finishing touches to our school performance.
It is our last week of swimming this week and again thank you to Mrs Turnbull for her expertise in running the swimming lessons for all students.
There have been Compass posts this week regarding our End of year mass and awards and performance practise as well as our end of year rewards day to Junee. If parents could please access compass and approve the consent and payment that would be appreciated. The Community Council have generously offered to pay for lunch for all students, so there will be no cost to families.
St Joseph’s will also participate in Adelong Carols on Saturday 9th December. If children can wear a Christmas t-shirt or something festive that would be fantastic! More information of other details for the night to follow.
Semester two reports will go out in Week 9 (next week) and parents are encouraged to make an appointment with their child’s classroom teacher to discuss their child’s progress.
Blessings for a great week
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
Christmas Appeal
Families are invited to support the Christmas Appeal by donating non perishable items such as tea, coffee, milo, long life milk, long life juice, jelly, pancake mix, etc. Baskets are set up in the foyer for donated items. Hampers are then delivered to those in need in our community.
The children are welcome to bring in goods and place them in the hamper located in the school foyer. This is a wonderful way for the children to experience the gift of giving to those families who may find themselves experiencing difficulty at this time of year.
Your support with this appeal is greatly appreciated.
End of Year Mass and Awards
We look forward to our End of Year Mass and Awards Presentation on Tuesday 5th December at 9.30am. Please note, the event will be held at the Adelonian Theatre and seating will be provided. Students are to arrive at school as normal and they will walk down to the theatre with teachers. We thank the Community Council who are providing parents and guests with morning tea after the ceremony.
Advent begins this Sunday, 3rd December and ends Sunday, December 24
Advent, which begins the Church’s liturgical year, begins this Sunday.
During the Advent season you will see evergreen wreaths set up at Mass, and on our prayer tables at school. Each Sunday in Advent, we light a candle on the wreath, which symbolises the light of God coming into the world through the birth of His son. It also reminds us that we are called to be a light to the world, as we reflect the light of God's grace to others.
Each week, a new candle is lit.
Candle 1 (violet): called the ‘Prophet’s Candle’, symbolises hope.
Candle 2 (violet): called ‘Bethlehem’s Candle’, represents love.
Candle 3 (rose): called the ‘Shepherd’s Candle’, represents joy.
Candle 4 (violet): called the Angel’s Candle’ represents peace.
By the final week of Advent, all four candles are lit reminding us that the time to rejoice has finally arrived!
The (optional) fifth candle, ‘Christ’s Candle’, represents purity and light. It is placed in the middle of the wreath and lit on Christmas Day, commemorating the arrival of the Light of the World.
Many thanks,
Stacey Braun
Religious Education Coordinator

Sports shirt
Wendellies have now got the new sport shirts in stock however, they will be phased in over time so if your child’s sports shirt still fits them – there is no expectation to purchase the new one at this time.
This Friday 1st December 2023 will be our last swimming session.
Students need to remember to bring with them; their swimmers, rashie, towel, thongs, hat, sunscreen and goggles.
A big Thank You to Mrs Turnbull and our Teachers for the opportunity to do swimming!
This term in 2/3 we have been busy writing information texts. The students have worked hard to write a book review on a book they have enjoyed reading this term and recreated the cover of their book. They look amazing!
We are now working on a Christmas writing project, researching a country and finding out how they celebrate Christmas.
2/3 have also been enjoying their swimming lessons with Mrs Turnbull on Tuesday and Fridays. It has been wonderful to see everyone's swimming skills grow.
Reminder:
Please find the lunch order menu for Mondays from the Gold Rush Cafe.
In weeks 5, 8 and 10 the only items that can be ordered are Pizzas. Please note these are the only times that pizza will be available. Please not: Pizzas are currently unavailable until further notice.
If your child wishes to order please place your child’s name, class, order and correct money in an envelope on Monday mornings.
