What a busy week we have had at St Joseph’s over the last week. A big thank you to all our parents who have been with us for so many of our extra activities – Book week, the ski trip, Trent Barrett shield and today’s Public speaking in Batlow. It is so great to see parents at school and out and about with us as we represent St Joseph’s in so many places!
Staff continue to be constantly updating their skills and knowledge and participated in a twilight session yesterday by updating their CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training.
Eight of our public speakers headed up to Batlow this morning to participate in our annual ‘speak off’ with St Mary’s. The standard of the speeches was amazing and St Joseph’s were lucky enough to come away with a winner in every year and runners up in most years. A huge congratulations to our eight speakers – Arthur Roche and Toby Roots, Taylani Kapoor and Charlie MacDougall, Hugh Reynolds and Spencer Radford, Anna Roche and Isliah Kapoor. Our winners Arthur, Charlie, Hugh and Isliah will head off to Cootamundra on Monday 9 September for the Western Region finals. The adjudicators gave some great advice to the children on how to improve their speeches even further and were very impressed with the children’s speeches. In all years it was perhaps only a point difference between the winner and runner up and throughout all the speeches.
We are looking forward to our Father’s Day afternoon tomorrow, we hope lot’s of dad’s can join us, and if they can’t any family or friend is most welcome! We will kick off at 1.30pm with our tabloid sports rotations, and then just after 2.30pm we will have afternoon tea and thank our dads for being awesome!
Have a great week!
Kind Regards
Kirsty Beavan

The students had a lot of fun and lots of parents came to the ski trip to help with the lessons. The weather was really hot for being a snow day!

Harry: "The Boy in the Dress" This boy called Dennis is getting bullied by everyone at school so he decides to dress up as a girl. I have just started reading this book but I have enjoyed other books by the author David Walliams. |
Last night Mrs Beavan and staff participated in a First Aid refresher course involving CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis. They had to do an online theory course prior to the night and then complete a practical assessment. Thank you for Allens Training for coming to our school and working with the staff.

Trent Barrett Shield
Yesterday the 28th of August, 9 boys from Year 3 and 4 participated in the CRL Trent Barrett Shield. The boys were Tom, Harry, Riley, Toby, Preston, Charlie, Arthur, Nate and Jack.
The boys played Gundagai South, Small schools (Adelong PS, Nangus, Jugiong), McAuley Two and St Pat’s Gundagai.
Unfortunately they lost against three teams and then had a comeback win against St Pat’s. Tom got players player award for St Joeys. Harry had a fun ride on the back of a player while trying to tackle him and also stopped a number of tries.
The boys had a great day and there were some funny memories. This was the first time that St Joeys had our first team in a long time.
Thank you to Paul Roche for coaching the boys and coming in and having training sessions!
Taylani also participated in League Tag for the Trent Barrett Shield. She played with a McAuley team and they lost 3 games and drew one game. Taylani scored a great try! She really enjoyed her day. Thank you to McAuley for allowing Taylani to play in their team.
- Harry, Tom, Jack C, Riley and Preston
