Dear Parents and Carers,
Mrs Beavan is having a wonderful time in New Zealand at the principals conference. Please see the message below from Mrs Beavan -
Kia ora!
Last week I had a fantastic time in Aotearoa, The Land of the Long White Cloud, Christchurch (New Zealand), attending the Trans Tasman Principals Conference.
There were some great speakers including Dr Jordan Nguyen, Iain Taylor, Dr Hana O’Regan, Sophie Renton and Gilbert Enoka. Each speaker brought something different and inspiring.
It was great spending time with some of the Principals from our Archdiocese, and see some former colleagues too.
I enjoyed visiting Christchurch and appreciate the mix between old and new architecture, the friendly people and the spectacular views.
I look forward to seeing everyone in Term 4
Enjoy the rest of your trip Mrs Beavan!
Building update
The students were very excited to see the start of the roof go up on the new classrooms today ! The building is progressing so fast and we can’t wait to see more changes after the holidays.
Learning Showcase
Thank you for attending our Learning Showcase today. The Learning Showcase was a wonderful opportunity to see the progress and growth the students have made this term and to celebrate their hard work and achievement. It was extra special having Charlie and Jack (ex-students) come along as well!
Small Schools Relay
We wish Kruz, Ollie, Billy and Lily all the best as they compete in the small schools relay at MacKillop Athletics tomorrow. We are so proud of you and will be cheering you on here at school!
Last Day of Term 3
A quick reminder to families that the last school day for students is Thursday 26th September. Term 4 will commence for students on Tuesday 15th October. During the pupil free days, staff are completing professional development.
As the term draws to a close, I wish all students and families a wonderful break and look forward to seeing you next term.
Happy holidays,
Stacey Braun

MEDICAL CONDITIONS
It is a requirement that Schools keep up to date and medically endorsed records for any student who has a medical condition or allergy (these include, but are not limited to, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Food Allergies etc). If your child has a medical condition or allergy, please contact the office so we can ensure we have all the correct documentation.
Parents/Carers are responsible for informing the school of any medical issues and keeping the required documentation up to date.
It is imperative that we have the up to date documentation completed and returned to school by the start of next Term.
If you need the relevant forms, please contact the office as soon as possible.
If we do not hold current documentation, parents will be responsible for providing all medical intervention.
Our School Counsellor, Lucinda, will be available Mondays during the school term. If you think your child may benefit from seeing Lucinda, please complete the online referral form by clicking this link - School Counsellor Referral Form
Any concerns or questions can be emailed to lucinda.clay@mccg.org.au or alternatively call the school office on Mondays.
Next term we will begin swimming lessons for sport. There are entry fees to attend and utilise the pool facilities. If you are applying for a season pass, can you please send the confirmation (receipt or card number) to the office so that the charges are not added to those students prior to the sessions beginning. This will save any confusion with charges.
Early next term we will hold a working bee to predominantly get the vegetable patch up and running (made possible through our successful Snowy Hydro grant). It would be fantastic if there are any parents within our school community with equipment and skills that could help with tasks such as levelling a pad for the garden shed, pouring a concrete slab, putting together garden beds etc. We will also do general maintenance and clean up tasks. Watch this space!
Please note:
The last day of attendance for Students for Term 3 is Thursday 26th September due to Friday 27th September being a staff development day.
Students will return for Term 4 on Tuesday 15th October 2024.
Save the date: Thursday 12th December - End Of Year Mass and Awards Ceremony.
5/6 have been very busy in all learning areas during the last few weeks of term.
We finished our novel study on the book 'Convict Boy' by Jackie French and began collating all our research and sentence building together to finally write an information text based on the First Fleet and convicts life in early Sydney. This has resulted in some amazing written texts that have utilised all we have learnt about this term: appositives, complex sentences, relative clause, subordinating conjunctions and much more. The level of detail gone into these pieces of writing is wonderful.
We have also been busy in History focusing on Australian Government. A couple of weeks ago, the students role played a House of Representatives meeting, which was very fun but also a great opportunity for student's to further understand how passing a bill works in Parliament House. To finish their history unit, students have studied how different organisations have contributed to the growth of Australian society.
All students in 5/6 have worked so hard this term, producing high quality work and are excited for the holidays.
Keep up to date with events happening at St Joseph's via our electronic school calendar (please note dates can be subject to change).
- Grounds Maintenance Roster
With the weather warming up the grass is starting to grow much quicker! Please please keep an eye on the grounds so that they are mowed when required.
When you have completed the mowing, please let the school know so that the office can contact the next person on the list.
Section A | Section B |
Singh Family | Pearce Family |
Shiels Family | Frank Corbett Family |
McMahon Family | Edward Bowden Family |
We would like if families could check if some of the areas in your allocated section need whipper snipping eg; around trees, rock/rockeries etc.
Please ensure you have re-filled the fuel tanks on the mower or whipper snipper after you finish and advise the school if we require more fuel. Please also advise the school that you have mowed so we can let the next Family know that it is their turn.
