At the end of Week 6 we held our Athletics carnival on a cold and Wintery Friday! A big congratulations to all of the students who gave it their all, despite the cold weather. We were fortunate enough to have some McAuley helpers on the day – Matilda, Ella, Lilly, Olivia, and Lucas. The students were so encouraging and when some of our students were struggling it was so wonderful to see them cheer them on and even run with them. We really appreciate your assistance on the day. Thank you to our wonderful parents who also lent a hand time keeping on the day. A big thank you also to our Community Council who put on the meal deal for students. They also were out in the cold for most of the morning making sure little people were fed! The Western Region Athletics carnival will be held this Friday in Young – the Compass event was sent out last week.
1/2 are very lucky to have Miss Eliza Roberts from ACU with them for a prac. Eliza started teaching the students last week and we know they are enjoying having you at St Joseph’s.
Last week I was in Canberra for our Western Region Principals meeting and a day of input from Catholic Education staff. It was also a privilege to attend a Mass in honour of Tim Smith who after nearly 40 years of working in Catholic Education is retiring. There was a farewell function after Mass and this week Tim will visit St Joseph’s for the last time. Ms Philippa Brealey will replace Tim as my School Performance and Development Leader at the beginning of Term 3. Tim has been a wonderful support for me in my role as Principal for many years, and was also instrumental in assisting me with the many processes involved with the construction of the new building. I sincerely thank him for his years of support of St Joseph’s Adelong.
Reports will go out to parents on Compass at the end of Week 9. Parent teacher interviews will then take place in Week 10. I strongly encourage all parents to utilise this opportunity to touch base with your childs teacher. It is important to discuss their progress, areas for further development and find out ways that you can assist and support your childs learning at home.
Blessings for a great week,
Kirsty Beavan

The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ – Corpus Christi
This Sunday, we celebrate Corpus Christi, which means "The Body of Christ." It is a special feast in the Church that is held two weeks after Pentecost.
On this day, we remember how Jesus gave us a wonderful gift at the Last Supper - the gift of the Eucharist. This is when the bread and wine at Mass become the Body and Blood. This sacred change is called transubstantiation, which means the substance of the bread and wine is changed into the substance of Jesus Himself.
Many thanks,
Stacey Braun
Religious Education Coordinator

New Direct Debit Payment Option Coming Soon!
We are pleased to announce that St Joseph’s Adelong has recently introduced the BPoint Enterprise Solution to manage direct debit arrangements for the payment of school fees.
What is BPoint and What Do You Need to Do?
BPoint is a secure Commonwealth Bank payment processing platform designed to facilitate online payments, while ensuring the highest security standards. This system safeguards your financial information using industry-leading security measures.
Our new direct debit platform will allow you to pay school fees using either a bank account or a credit card (excluding AMEX). Please note that payments made via credit card will incur a 0.5% surcharge.
Establishing Direct Debits.
Next week, families will receive an email outlining estimated weekly, fortnightly, and monthly repayment options to ensure all fees are paid by the end of the year. These amounts will also include any outstanding 2024 balances.
What next?
You will receive an email that will provide a start date for direct debits and options for selecting your preferred payment frequency. Once a payment frequency is selected, you will be directed to enter your bank/credit card details. Once the information is entered, you will receive an email from no-reply@bpoint.com.au .The email will contain two links,
- The first link requires confirmation of the direct debit arrangement. Please note that the link will expire within 7 days.
- The second link provides a copy of the eDDRSA for your records.
While using the direct debit payment option is not compulsory, many families find it helpful in staying up to date with their financial obligations.
Catholic Education Canberra-Goulburn has communicated to schools regarding reporting to parents/guardians. CE has advised schools that general comments will not be required on Semester 1, 2025 reports, but to prioritise Parent/Teacher Conferences for every family. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, their strengths, challenges and future areas of focus. A Semester Report will be sent home as in previous Semesters, providing A-E grading, work habits and attendance information. CE has advised schools that Semester 2, 2025 reports will have a general comment for all children as in previous years. This general comment will provide a summative comment for the year, areas of achievement and areas to focus on for the following year. A-E grading, work habits and attendance information will remain as normal. We would encourage all parents/guardians to engage regularly with their child/ren’s learning, connecting with their class teacher/s regularly to discuss learning progress.
We have had reports of lots of misplaced jumpers and jackets still.
Please ensure names are written in any items of school clothing and on school hats.
If everyone could please check that their children are bringing home their own items, and send any that may not be theirs back to the office, that would be fantastic.
Thanks
Students had a great time participating in the sculpture workshops on Wednesday 11th June with local artist Robyn Veneer Sweeney and Angela Pearce. The workshops are part of the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail School Education Program. Robyn showed the students different sculptures from around the world and then the students created their own sculptures based on the artist Jean Dubuffet's Le Bel Costume sculpture.

Congratulations to Henry and Billy Roche who trialled for the Canberra Goulburn Rugby Union team today. Both boys made the team and will now play at the MacKillop Trials in Forbes on Sunday 29th and Monday 30th June.

Online gaming is a popular way for young people to relax, socialise, and have fun. However, it's essential to make sure children are staying safe and acting responsibly while playing. In many online games, players can interact with others, including strangers who may not always have the right intentions.
That’s why it’s important for parents and carers to talk with children about online safety, especially the importance of never sharing personal information.
Games like Minecraft and Roblox include chat features that allow users to communicate in-game. Fortunately, both platforms offer parental controls that can help monitor activity and disable specific functions to create a safer gaming environment for your child.
Meet our Kindergarten Students
