It has been a very busy term three filled with lots of sporting, academic and spiritual events.
We have had Barney and Jack R progress to the Western Region Public speaking and Barney representing at the Archdiocese Public speaking which was fantastic. On the sporting field we have participated in Trent Barrett, Mortimer shield and had lots of fun on our 3-6 ski trip. We have welcomed our new Kindergarten students for 2026 with two of our Orientation Days. Staff have been involved in lots of Professional development throughout the term with the most recent being with the team from Royal Far West who also ran a parent session and gave parents the opportunity to come in for a drop in sessions and talk to the clinicians. Emerson and Emily Matthews celebrated the sacrament of Reconciliation which was very special and significant in the girls faith journey. It will be great for both staff and students to hit the recharge button over the next couple of weeks and ensure that they have a well deserved rest. School resumes for students on Tuesday 14th October.
Good luck to Ollie Corbett who is participating in the MacKillop athletics trials tomorrow. We wish you the best of the luck and know that you will give it your all!
I have been given a date for our Official opening of our new school buildings – Term 4, Week 5, Wednesday 12th November. More details will come next term, but it will be very exciting to officially open our beautiful new facilities.
Amber, James and Mitchell will hold their Yr 6 fundraiser this Thursday – raising funds for the make a wish foundation. Students are asked to bring in their gold coins for a raffle, canteen and guessing competition. Blue clothing or mufti can be worn on the day.
We will have a working bee on the last weekend of the school holidays – mainly to tidy up the grounds and gardens and complete some jobs to ensure our school looks fabulous for the upcoming term.
I hope that families enjoy the next two weeks with their children, and I look forward to working with you for another fabulous term.
Blessings for a great week,
Kirsty Beavan

Many thanks,

Bike Safety
With school holidays just around the corner, it’s the perfect time for children to enjoy riding their bikes, scooters and skateboards. To help keep everyone safe, here are a few important reminders:
Helmets are the law - In NSW, children must wear an approved helmet whenever riding in a public place. Helmets should be properly fitted and securely fastened.
Road safety matters - Even if your child is confident with pedalling, steering and braking, they are not ready to ride near traffic or on the road until they are at least 10 years old.
Choose safe spaces - The safest places to ride are fenced or supervised areas away from cars.
For more information, visit Transport NSW Wearing helmets and riding safely.
A reminder to please ensure Students are wearing their correct uniform to school.
Students need to ensure they have their school hat, are wearing their tie and have their black school shoes on (joggers are for sports day only)
Please click here to access the Uniform Policy.
Please see the below correspondance regarding Uniform Ordering for 2026 from Wendellie's in Tumut.
Last year, Wendellie's Tumut trialled asking Families in advance at a local school for uniform needs for back to school. This worked incredibly well, so this year they are asking if Parents from all schools could please think about their uniform needs for back to school 2026 and let them know.
We are asking if you could inform your parents/guardians of our intentions.
Parents can contact Wendellie directly with their uniform needs. Wendellie would like to place their stock order no later than 30th September. This is for the summer uniform.

Uniforms do not have to be paid for at the time of ordering, this can be done upon pick up. Also, this is an estimate. If sizes need changing, that's not a problem. This can happen at the time of pick up and/or payment.
Project Elevate - Swimming Sessions
Royal Life Saving NSW has received funding from the NSW Government to deliver Project Elevate, a Learn to Swim initiative.
St Joseph's have been lucky enough to be provided funded lessons for all Students in our school.
The program will be free of charge for participating schools.
As part of the program and its reporting requirements, parents of the students will be asked to complete a pre-program survey at enrolment and a post-program survey after the final session. All responses will be collected in a de-identified format, meaning no personal information will be shared.
Please use the link below to complete the pre-program survey. This must be completed before Students can take part in this program.
As we have all of our students participating, please fill out the form for each of your Children.

MacKillop Athletics Championships
In the past couple of weeks the 1/2 class have been exploring 2D shapes and enjoyed playing a barrier game where one person had to make a pattern and then describe it to their partner to make, without looking. The children agreed it was really important to describe the position of each shape carefully so their partner could put the shapes in the right places.
We have also been learning about money and after exploring the different coins and notes we have in Australia, we worked out different ways to make $1.00.
In Science we have been learning about sound and this week we looked at how the pitch and volume of different instruments can be changed.
Lastly, we have been really focussing on kindness this term and we had a good chat with Mrs Clay, our school counsellor, about how to be a good friend.

Keep up to date with events happening at St Joseph's via our electronic school calendar (please note dates can be subject to change).
The Community Council recently applied for a grant through TransGrid under the HumeLink Community Investment and Benefits Program. This was an opportunity for a significant amount of funding, and the Community Council highlighted the need for a COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) over the current basketball and tennis courts. It is exciting to announce the proposed project has been shortlisted. The next step is our project is available for viewing at community drop-in sessions to determine the value the community sees in our project. Community members are welcome to drop into these sessions and encouraged to complete a survey which will determine which projects receive funding. While not a voting system, the survey is important for the success of our application.
