The end of Term one brings some very weary students and staff who have had a wonderful start to 2019! The term has been very busy with lots of learning, sport and activities that have made St Joseph’s a great place to be.
We look forward to commemorating Anzac Day this Friday with the students from Adelong Public School at the Cenotaph. We will then have morning tea in the park and share our Easter good will with the community who might be walking up the main street at that time (might be a good place to be from 11.30 am!)
Thank you for your continued support of St Joseph’s especially with being an integral part of your child’s education. Fortnightly assemblies, open classrooms, school masses, carnivals, canteen, Community Council meetings and the list goes on.
Next term will be a busy term again with many things happening in the first couple of weeks. I will be on leave in Week 2 and Mrs Liz Murray will be Acting Principal for the week. Liz will still have her usual teaching duties as well as being in charge!
The Primary students presented the Stations of the Cross yesterday. It was wonderful to see all the effort they had put into researching their station and presenting to the rest of the school. The children did a fabulous job and now everyone has a much deeper understanding of the Stations. The Primary students chose how to present their information – as a video, newspaper article, poster or a combination of different ways.
I wish all of our St Joseph’s families a blessed, peaceful and Happy Easter! May you have a wonderful break full of happiness and a well deserved rest!
Kirsty Beavan

Monday Lunch Canteen
We would like to thank all the parents who have volunteered for the canteen so far this year. If anyone else is able to spare a Monday once a term, it would be great to have more names on the list. Alternatively, If anyone would like to help with the canteen, but is not able to do a Monday shift, it would be great to have a stock monitor and orderer. With the changes to the canteen menu, most of the items are purchased fresh each week from the Adelong Supermarket. So there is not much to order, but ideally, someone that regularly attends drop off or pick up, if they were able to pop into the canteen once a fortnight and check stock levels, it would be an easy way to contribute.
Current Canteen Menu

Winter Uniform will need to be worn for both terms two and three. Please ensure jumpers are labelled in the holidays ready for the return to school.
During Weeks 2 through to 6, sports uniform will need to worn on both Monday and Friday.

This term K-1-2 have been learning about different environments and have made some fabulous dioramas of animal habitats.
Primary Class have been learning about Fractions, Decimals and Percentages. In class they placed these numbers on a number line which was a great visual for us all to see where they go.
During Week 2 we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week with a Mass and Morning Tea on Tuesday 7th May at 10:15am. We would love to see our families come along and join us to celebrate.
First Communion will be celebrated at St James Church on Sunday 30th June 2019.
Preparation lessons will be held on Wednesday afternoons after school on
15th May 2019, 29th May 2019, 12th June 2019
The lessons will run from 3:30 to 4.15pm and afternoon tea will provided for the children so that they can stay after school.
Please call or email me if you have any questions.
Thanks

Thank you to McAuley for hosting us recently for the Cross Country, we have quite a number of students who will be travelling to Harden next term to compete at Western Region level. Well done to all the students for their fantastic participation in Tumut and we wish our representatives all the best for Harden.
Students have been busily preparing their Easter Parade hats and baskets for the Easter walk to the street tomorrow. They have all done a fantastic job!
Athletics Carnival - Wednesday 8th May
We are looking forward to our Athletics next term. Details for our Athletics Carnival will be as per the original note sent out a couple of weeks ago. Kirsty has sent out an email with change of date and needs parents to send a read receipt in reply to the email to ensure all parents are aware of the changes. We thank you for your assistance in this matter.

St Joseph's will participate in Gymnastic lessons next term starting in week 2 through to week 6. A permission note will go out this week with details.
