Dear families,
Welcome back to Term 3. I hope that everyone had a nice break and a chance for a little rest and relaxation! It is great to see all the students back at school ready for another term of learning.
Covid-19 Update
Guidelines are again changing quite rapidly and CE has released a ‘Roadmap” of Covid-19 practices together with Catholic Schools NSW releasing documents to be adhered to. The message is still quite consistent in regards to hygiene measures at school. The extra cleaning procedures will remain in place, students are encouraged to regularly wash their hands, staff and students who are unwell are asked to remain at home and students are asked to fill their water bottle at the water bubbler and not drink directly from the bubbler. A student’s temperature will only be taken if they are feeling unwell.
Some activities will remain on hold at this stage – assemblies, kindergarten orientation days, parent gatherings, excursions, day trips, working bees, and any volunteer helpers coming into the school.
Visitors to the school will be kept to an absolute minimum, and adults should not enter the school if at all possible. External providers to the school must sign in and adhere to a set of strict guidelines. Please continue to contact your child’s teacher via email or phone if you wish to make contact with them. Please remember to practice social distancing at the front gate when dropping off or picking up your child.

Correspondence was sent out at the beginning of the week regarding protocols to follow if you have been to Victoria and this will now include the hot spots that are now present in NSW.
If anyone is exhibiting symptoms the message is currently TEST, ISCOLATE, WAIT.
Building work
Over the holiday break a new section of roof has been installed to fix the leaking roof. A new ceiling and light was also put up, which is fantastic. CE authorised all of this building work.
Bubbler
The new bubbler that was purchased recently by the Community Council is now all hooked up and ready to go- nice cold filtered water. The students are currently enjoying filling their drink bottles up. A huge thank you to the Community Council.
Johnson Family
We welcome the Johnson family to the St Joseph’s community. Cody is in Yr 1 and we know that all of K/1 will make sure that he feels very welcome.
Have a great week.
Kind Regards,
Kirsty Beavan
It was wonderful to commence this term with a Spirituality Day on Monday. Father Richard Leonard SJ led the day for all staff in the Western Region schools.
The topic for the day was "Catholic identity: How can Catholic Education form believers in a media saturated culture?"
Throughout the day we were challenged to critically analysis the influence of media in our lives including TV shows, news, commercials, movies and social media. Fr Richard discussed the importance for all of us, including children, to be given the skills to critically engage in the consumption of the media while holding true to our faith in Jesus and the Community of the Church.
What were the makers of this media trying to communicate to me?
What behaviour is it trying to encourage in me?
Whose story is not being told?
What have I just seen and why did I watch it?
In times when the media has a negative influence, we discussed the importance of Cardinal virtues and Christian values to come back with a message of Hope, Faith and Love.
