Welcome back!  I trust that everyone had a lovely break and enjoyed spending time with family over the Easter break.

Staff travelled to Cootamundra on Monday with one hundred other teachers from the Archdiocese for a Challenging Learning Inspiration Day.  Martin Renton who is an English keynote speaker who presents all over the world led the day.  Mrs Murray and I are currently in Canberra and have spent the last two days participating in workshops again lead by Martin.  St Joseph’s staff are privileged to have Professional Development that is of an International standard, and we look forward to continuing this learning over the next two years with Challenging Learning.

Term Two will be another busy term for St Joseph’s. Next week is Catholic Schools Week and we will celebrate mass with Fr Kevin on Tuesday at 10.15 am.  Mass will be followed by a special Mother’s Day morning tea.  All are most welcome to attend and to share a yummy cake that we will have for all visitors and the students.

Piano Lessons

A reminder that piano lessons have been changed to a Wednesday for the remainder of the year.

Change of date:  Tuesday 25th June - full winter school uniform to be worn.

Uniform

Winter uniform will need to be worn for the both second and third term.  Please ensure jumpers and jackets are labelled.  

During Weeks 2 through to week 8, sports uniform will need to be worn on both Monday and Friday.

A big thank you to all our wonderful students that marched and represented their school so respectfully. Our leaders did a fantastic job with leading the parade as a flag bearer, leading prayer, laying a wreath and carrying the St Joseph's flag.

First Communion will be celebrated at St James Church on Sunday 30th June 2019.

Preparation lessons will be held on Wednesday afternoons after school on 

15th May 2019, 29th May 2019, 12th June 2019

The lessons will run from 3:30 to 4.15pm and afternoon tea will provided for the children so that they can stay after school.

Athletics Carnival - Wednesday 8th May in Batlow

We are looking forward to our Athletics next week and hopefully the weather is fine. Please ensure that children have a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.  Those who haven't ordered lunch will need to bring their own.  Normal drop off and pick up/bus times will apply. Good luck to all our students.

Gymnastics

Our Gymnastics lessons will begin on Monday 6th May and run each Monday until week 8, they will be taking place at Adelong Public School.  Sports uniform for Monday and Friday.

Western Region Cross Country - NEW DATE:  FRIDAY 17TH MAY.

The WR Cross Country was postponed due to the forecast rain. All details will remain the same as the notes previously sent out.

Catering

St Joseph's have been asked to cater for an event to held on Thursday 16th May at the Museum.  We are asked to provide sandwiches, slices and fruit.  Please email the school on office.stjosephsadelong@cg.catholic.edu.au to let us know that you can help with providing one of these items.  Many thanks for your continued support.

Community Council Meeting

Our next meeting will be Wednesday 15th May with Executive meeting at 6pm and General starting at 6:30pm.
