Week 3 has been a busy week for students in Yr 3 and 5 who have been sitting the Naplan tests. St Joseph’s was an online school and the children have done a wonderful job at being calm and composed and have done their best throughout the four tests. There were a few technical issues on the first day where connectivity was lost several times – which was an issue that was experienced throughout NSW. These issues seem to have been resolved and by the end of the four tests it was a much smoother experience for the students. Next week is the catch up period for any students who have missed tests.
Good luck to all the students who are heading off to Harden tomorrow to participate in the Western Region Cross Country. We know you will do your best at representing St Joseph’s.
Our fingers and toes will be crossed for fine weather next Thursday for our Athletics carnival in Batlow. All of the details remain the same – the bus will take all students to the carnival at approximately 9.15 am and we will return to school in time for buses. The infants students will stay at the carnival till 12 noon and then head up to St Mary’s with the Kindergarten and Yr 1 students from St Mary’s to have their lunch and some activities.
A big thankyou to the wonderful parents who have been getting through some jobs that were on our working bee list – gardening, spraying, pruning and fixing and clearing drains. Your help is always appreciated. If anyone would like some jobs to do – please ask, many hands make light work!!
Have a great week.
Kind Regards
Kirsty Beavan

We plan on entering some artwork into this year’s Lanterns on the Lagoon which will be held on Saturday 21 September.
The theme for this year is “Water: Our Lifeblood”.
For our pieces of artwork we will require:
- Blue and white bottle lids (e.g. from milk, soft drink or water bottles)
- Large plastic bottles (1.25L or 2L soft drink or water bottles)
- Fishing line
- Old beads (white, blue or clear)
- Old metal watering cans or buckets
If you have any of these items at home that you do not need any more please drop them into the school.
Thank you for your support.
Lately we have been playing basketball during recess and lunch, lots of people have joined in and are having fun.
Today I have interviewed Seamus on what he thinks about Basketball.
"Basketball is an enjoyable sport that anyone can play, it keeps you active and you can learn new techniques and skills. Everyone can play together it doesn't matter what age you are you can join in."
