Welcome to Week 2. The children are back into the routine of school life again and it is business as usual!
Thank you to everyone for following the covid guidelines. Children should not be at school if they are unwell even with the mildest of covid symptoms and get tested if they have symptoms. When coming into the school office parents have been signing in on the QR code, wearing a mask and signing their child in or out – again thank you for your co-operation.
The focus for our Principals award this week is one of our ways of being - Respect. All students at St Joseph’s know that this means speaking nicely to their peers and teachers, respecting others and their belongings, using school property and equipment sensibly.
Have a great week,
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
Today is the Feast Day of Mary Magdalene. During the sessions we read accounts from John’s Gospel where Jesus appeared to Mary and completed a range of reflection activities that invited us to ‘Connect, Extend and Challenge’ our thoughts and understandings of Mary as a person and her role in Jesus’ life.
The schools also shared the successes and challenges they have encountered implementing the new RE Curriculum and discussed strategies to develop pedagogical content and skills to engage students in deeper understandings of religious knowledge.
School Mass
The school is rostered to present Mass on Sunday 15th August. I invite as many families as possible to join us for this Children’s Mass. It is always a beautiful celebration and the children participate so reverently and confidently.
If you would like your child to participate in the Mass please email me: elizabeth.murray @cg.catholic.edu.au and I will send home a reading for you to practise.
It would be lovely to have as many St Joseph families as possible join us for this Parish Mass.

Kindergarten Enrolment for 2022
Enrolment forms are available for children attending Kindergarten in 2021. These forms are available online or at our school. There is an option to fill enrolment forms out online and it will be sent through to the school. Please follow the attached link.
Thank you to our parents who have been informing the school of the their children's absence this term, it is very much appreciated. It is a legal requirement to notify the school within 7 school days of any absence. After this time it is automatically recorded as an unexplained absence.
If your child arrives after bell time, we ask that you attend the front office with your child to sign them in using the Compass Kiosk, this also applies if students are departing school early. Compass Kiosk is very easy for parents to use, office staff are more than happy to help if you haven't used it before.
At the end of Term 2, Mrs Dean, Miss Braun and Mrs Beavan spent three days in Canberra at a faith formation program called Spiritus, where we received a beautiful artwork by Dr Miriam Rose Ungunmerr Bauman, the 2021 Senior Australian of the Year.
The 4/5/6 class spent some time exploring the meaning of each element of the artwork, and then worked on creating their own Acknowledgement of Country to show the respect we have for our Indigenous community.
Year 2/3 enjoyed a Library class with Mrs Parker, after borrowing they read their book with a partner.
Today the Indian Club started which was run by Faith and Saanvi. The Indian club is going to teach the children Indian words, learn a little bit about the Indian culture and history and might even teach some Indian dances. Saanvi and Faith started today by teaching them the alphabet. Saanvi and faith taught small phrases as well such as he and she.

Happy Birthday wishes to our students who have had birthdays in the last couple of weeks.
Book Club catalogues were sent home with students this week. There is no obligation to purchase books through the catalogue, we will be holding a Book Fair at school later in August for Book Week.
We ask that orders are sent through the LOOP app.
Keep up to date with events happening at St Joseph's via our electronic school calendar (please note dates can be subject to change).
