Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations to our five very clever swimmers who travelled to Queanbeyan on Tuesday to compete in the Archdiocesan Swimming Carnival. They were representing the Western Region and from all accounts swam very well. Thank you to their parents too, who take the time to convey their children and support and nurture their talents!
Adelong Show
Good luck to the Committee for a successful Show this weekend. I hope the weather will be in your favour and your hard work and organisation will pay off. It’s not too late for parents who would like to help to put your name down on the BBQ roster from 4 – 8pm. Thank you to the staff who have encouraged the students to enter into the different sections and organised the school display.
Cross Country
Due to a clash of dates with MacKillop Swimming, the date of the Cross Country has been changed to 17th March. Parents and family members are very welcome to come as spectators or to help on checkpoints. The children will come to school as normal on the day and then be bused out to the Adelong Golf Course.
St Joseph’s Day
St Joseph’s Feast Day is celebrated on the 19th March. This year it falls on a Saturday, so we have decided to celebrate on Friday 18th March. Fr George will celebrate Mass for us at 12:15pm. Afterwards families are very welcome to bring along a picnic lunch to enjoy with their children in the school grounds.
Principals’ Retreat
I have been very much enjoying the Catholic Leaders’ Day and Principals’ Retreat at Bowral this week. As well as having time for prayer, contemplation and meditation, it has been wonderful to reconnect with colleagues from around our archdiocese. Mrs Beavan has been in both our communal and individual prayers.
I look forward to being back at St Joseph’s next week.
God bless,
Katrina McGrath
Acting Principal
Welcome to Week 6! We are now in the second week of Lent and the children have been observing changes to their prayer spaces and the Church during the Lenten season.
Purple (or violet) is the colour of the Lenten season. Cloths on our prayer tables and the Tabernacle cover in the church are now purple. During Lent flowers and other decorations are removed from the church as well. During Lent we focus on prayer, almsgiving and fasting.
Project Compassion 2022
Caritas Australia is the international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia. Each year, Project Compassion runs during the six weeks of Lent. Project Compassion is an opportunity for students to learn about life in different countries through personal stories of people who have participated in Caritas programs.
The theme of Project Compassion 2022 is ‘For All Future Generations’. It is an expression of hope and reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. It invites us to make the world a better place by working together now and finding long-term solutions to global issues.
Students are welcome to bring in small change to put into the box. We encourage students to discover the power of giving and the impact that their contribution, however big or small, can have in the lives of others. When we lend a hand to someone in need, they will go on to help others and make better opportunities for future generations.
St Joseph’s Day
We look forward to celebrating the Feast Day of our school patron St Joseph with mass on the 18th March. After mass we invite parents to stay for a picnic lunch on the oval.
School Mass Sunday 20 March - we still need volunteers for our school mass. Please let me know by the end of the week if you are able to attend.
Have a lovely week,
- Stacey Braun
Religious Education Coordinator

Adelong Show
The Adelong Show is coming up this Saturday March 12th.
St Joseph’s will be running a BBQ in the evening from approximately 4pm -9pm, we still need helpers from 8pm - 9pm and for pack up.
We will be asking for families to assist on the evening with cooking the BBQ and serving. We already have families committed to running the show, so please if you are able to spare some time it would be wonderful. With the show taking a new day and format this year, this BBQ could be a great fundraising activity for our school.
