Dear Parents and Carers,
Confirmation
Special blessings are extended to Culley Reynolds, Nicholas Campbell, Arthur Roche, Fred Roche, Toby Roots and Lochie Roots who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation tonight at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Tumut. As a community we pray that they will receive the Gifts of the Holy Spirit which will guide them in their future lives as they continue to grow in their faith.
Western Region Athletics Carnival
There were 20 students from St Joseph’s who participated in the Western Region Athletics today at Cootamundra. I am very proud of the effort they put into each of the events. Congratulations goes to all our students for their sportsmanship and special congratulations to the following students who will go onto represent the Western Region at the Archdiocesan Carnival in the Small Schools Relay Team: Sam, Nate, Laura and Toby.
Canteen Survey
Our school has been approached by a local business with an offer to provide lunch orders for the students. Miss Braun has set up a survey on Compass to gauge parents’ responses to the proposal. I would encourage all families to respond so the school and Community Council are able to consider introducing a service that meets the needs of the majority of our families.
Semester Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews
Semester One reports will go home on Friday 24th June. Parent / Teacher interviews will be available from Monday 27th June. Parents are able to go onto Compass and make an appointment to meet with your child’s teacher. The Compass appointments will close on Sunday 26th June, so please schedule your appointment/s before then. This enables teachers time to be prepared for the meetings.
Western Region Choir Festival
Students from Years 2 – 6 will be participating in the WR Choir Festival next Thursday. Notes and information will be sent out through Compass. Miss Soulsby, Mrs Dean, Mrs Parker and myself will be in attendance at the Choir Festival and Miss Braun and Mrs Murray will be at school. If your child does not wish to participate they will come to school as normal.
K – 12 Pathway for T-BAG Region
A meeting to introduce the commencement of Year 11 at McAuley Central School in 2023 was held last Thursday evening. The meeting was well attended by interested families, representatives from Catholic Education and staff from McAuley, St Patrick’s Gundagai, St Mary’s Batlow and St Joseph’s Adelong. It is an exciting development as this will provide a Kindergarten to Year 12 Catholic Pathway for all the students of our region.
A considerable amount of work has already been completed to ensure McAuley will be ready to host Year 11 from the beginning of 2023.
I have included in the newsletter FAQs from the meeting. Further information nights will be held for students to choose subjects and provide information for families.
Please spread the word to any families who may be interested in this option. Mr Moore is available to discuss any questions or concerns by phoning McAuley and making an appointment.

Acting Principal
What is Confirmation?
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the second of the three sacraments of Christian initiation.
Confirmation completes Baptism, by which in the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism Oil, which first happened at Baptism, we are confirmed with the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The grace we received at Baptism is deepened and strengthened in Confirmation.
We are reminded of our participation in the ministry and mission of Jesus, and strengthened to follow Jesus more closely. In this sacrament we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. We are given special gifts that help us to live in the way Jesus teaches. We grow in our friendship with Jesus. We begin to love Jesus more deeply. Like Baptism, Confirmation can only be received once.
Have a lovely week,
- Stacey Braun
Religious Education Coordinator
