Dear Parents and Carers,
Canberra Excursion
I had the absolute pleasure of participating in the Year 4/5/6 Excursion to Canberra earlier this week. I am hopeful that families were able to follow the activities that our students participated in via the school’s Facebook page. We are really proud of the leadership of our students, their level of engagement and the manner they connected with Andy (our driver), the tour guides, the adults and one another. I hope this will be a lasting memory of their primary school years. Well done Year 4/5/6!
Ronald McDonald House - McHappy Day Fundraiser
As mentioned last week, Beau, Mason and Riley will be organising a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House on Friday 18th November. The boys have asked that students bring a gold coin and wear anything yellow, red or white along with either crazy socks or crazy hair (or both!). They will also have some delicious baked goods for sale at recess and lunch - I will post the cost of these in next week's newsletter!

ICT Information
Please find attached some information about Snapchat (click here), courtesy of Safe on Social founder and CEO Kirra Pendergast. For more information on her programs and information, parents can visit her webpage:
The Google Form about IT information at St Joseph’s is still open. Thank you to the parents that have already contributed their thoughts and opinions. If parents could take the time to fill this out, this will support future decisions and information shared. The link is attached (click this link)
Resilience Project 2023
Next year, St Joseph’s staff and students will be fortunate enough to participate in the Resilience Project. I can personally advocate the amazing work that the Resilience Project does with schools and communities to achieve their goal of delivering emotionally engaging programs and provide evidence-based, practical wellbeing strategies to build resilience. Part of this program involves a community and parent/carer information session on Wednesday the 16th November at the Montreal Theatre from 6.30pm - 8pm.
This session will be presented by one of The Resilience Project’s partners and lead facilitators, Martin Heppell. I strongly encourage parents to try and make this event. If parents can’t attend this event, there will be an online community presentation on Tuesday 22nd November. We will also share their flyers through Facebook to remind parents and carers of both information evenings.
You can register in advance for the online meeting using the link below:

If you would like more information about the Resilience Project team, bio information is available on their website under the About Us page https://theresilienceproject.com.au/about-us/
Enjoy the remainder of your week,

First Holy Communion
On Sunday morning five very special children made their First Holy Communion in St James’ Church. We thank Fr Namora for celebrating the Mass. The children were so reverent and excited to receive the Eucharist.
Thank you to the families of the children for their support and guidance of the children throughout the preparation. We congratulate you on your First Holy Communion and pray that you will continue to feel God’s love within you.
Remembrance Day
At 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month each year we remember the moment in 1918 when World War I came to an end. On Remembrance Day, we remember Australian men and women who have served in war and peacekeeping activities. Remembrance Day does not glorify war – it honours the memory of all those who laid down their lives for Australia. As a mark of respect to those who have served, we stop to observe one minute’s silence

Kindergarten - Year 6 will commence swimming next week.
They will have swimming sessions on Tuesday and Friday.
A Compass event has been entered and we require consent to be given for all students. Please check your Compass app and if you haven't received anything please let the office know. No paper permission notes will be sent out.
Questions on students swimming ability need to be filled out via the Compass app.
Students need to bring their swimmers with them, rashie, towel, thongs, hat, sunscreen and goggles.
During school hours we have the front gate entrance blocked off and a chain up. This is for student safety to ensure vehicles are not coming into the school grounds.
Parents need to meet their child/ren at the front gate, we do not want to send children to cars.
If it is raining at morning drop off or afternoon pick up, the chain will be down and parents will be able to use the wet weather routine and drive into school grounds via Wyndham St, stopping at the weather shed to drop children off/pick up and leave the grounds via the front entrance.
A big thank you to Goode's Coaches for a fantastic excursion to Canberra. Vicki, Fred and our bus driver Andrew did a wonderful job organising the excursion for us with a great variety of attractions.
Mrs Dean, Mr Forsyth and Mr Roche had a great time and they did a great job looking after all the students, a big thank you to them.
