St Joseph’s has been a hive of activity over the last two weeks. A big thank you to Mrs Murray for organising the book week activities in Week 6. A lot of preparation went into the Parade, Book Fair, activities for the preschoolers, displays in the library and entrance to the classrooms that focused on this year’s theme Read, Grow, Inspire. All of the children enjoyed dressing up for Book Week as well as the guessing competition of the teacher’s childhood photos and favourite books.
It is fantastic to get to know the 2024 Kindergarten students a little better over the last couple of weeks with enrolment interviews. We have had our Information night, if any families that couldn’t make it would like copies of the handouts please let the office know. We look forward to our first Kindergarten Orientation day next Tuesday 12th September at 9 am. If the children could bring their bags, a drink bottle, a piece of fruit and their hats they will be all set for a great morning at St Joseph’s.
It was Teacher Support week last week, and St Joseph’s staff had a morning tea to thank our wonderful Classroom Support Assistants for all that they do. Mrs Turnbull, Mrs Howell, Mrs Matthews and Mrs Murphy always go above and beyond and we really appreciate all that you do for our school and wonderful students.
Another thank you for to all of the dads who joined us last Friday for our Father’s day sports afternoon. From all accounts it was a great afternoon and the children loved having their dads at school for the afternoon.
It was a special day for our six students who celebrated the sacrament of Reconciliation today – Bonnie, Christopher, Barney, Eva, Reuben and Brydee. Thank you to Fr Joe, Miss Braun and to the parents for your support and preparation of the students. The children were very excited and it was lovely to see the children so committed to their faith journey.
Blessings for the rest of the week.
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
Congratulations to Eva, Bonnie, Chris, Reuben, Brydee and Barney on making the Sacrament of Reconciliation today. It was a beautiful celebration which marks a significant step in their faith journey. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact they will have on our school community as they strive to live guided by the principles of love, forgiveness and reconciliation.
The Year of the Holy Spirit August 2023 - 2024
Mrs Beavan and I attended a Key Leader’s Day in Canberra last Friday, where Archbishop Christopher Prowse introduced The Year of the Holy Spirit 2023-2024.
The Year of the Holy Spirit 2023-2024 builds upon the foundation laid during the previous Year of Walking Together, emphasising the significance of unity and community.
In the video attached, Archbishop Prowse introduces and explains the focus areas for The Year of the Holy Spirit. Archbishop Prowse - Introduction of the Holy Spirit 2023-2024
School Mass
Thank you to the families who can attend our School Mass on Sunday 17th September. Readings/jobs will be distributed next week.
Please let me know if you are able to come as it would be wonderful to have as many St Joseph’s families attend.
Many thanks,
Stacey Braun

Mrs Beavan has commenced Kindergarten enrolment interviews for 2024. If you have a child commencing in Kindergarten in 2024 and haven’t had a chance to confirm your interview time, please do so as soon as you get a chance. It is really important that we have all of our planning and systems in place in readiness for our new Kindergarten students.
Below is also a reminder of our orientation dates and times that are coming up!
In History this term, the K/1 Class have been learning about how technology has changed our world. They have looked at how transport, communication and education has changed over time but their favourite was looking at how toys have changed. They had a great time playing with some “old” toys from the past, like spinning tops, marbles and pick up sticks.
A sincere THANK YOU to all our families for the support of the Book Fair this year. The school sold over $1200 worth of books and with the commission can select new books needed for the library. I am currently trying to update the non-fiction section of the library with titles that the students are interested in - cooking, origami, craft, the Titanic, science, and countries of the world to name a few.
Thank you to the following families and staff members who donated books to the library as well.
- Kruz Annetts
- Brydee Bowden
- Isabella Bowden
- Margaret Bowden and family
- Mrs Clay
- Mrs Crampton
- Mrs Dean
- Angus Corbett
- Primrose Corbett
- Mrs Murray
- Lily Pearce
- James Rieger-Moss

It is wonderful to have some new fiction books to read. All the books are accessioned, covered and ready for borrowing! So don’t forget your Library bags this week!
Families are welcome to donate a book at any time. If you have any used books in good condition that you no longer need, please pop in and see me or send me an email.
Thank you again for your wonderful support of the Book Fair and the Book Week Parade. It has certainly been a fun Book Week this year. The children enjoyed trying to match every staff member’s childhood photo with their favourite book!
Mrs Murray
Some of our 5/6 students are seen here with our new goal posts pads that Mr Forsyth organised through Country Rugby League. They look fantastic and are a welcome addition to our playground. Thanks again to Mr Forsyth for organizing these.
