A big thank you to all of the students that presented Mass on the weekend – it is always lovely to see the children participate and to Miss Braun who prepared the liturgy. Special mention to Sarah Roche who very generously made a chocolate cake for everyone to share.
The Adelong Show is coming up this weekend – many hands make light work, if you haven’t had the chance to pop your name on the bbq roster – we would appreciate even 1 hour of your time. A HUGE thank you to those that have put their names down, we really appreciate your support.
I will head to the Southern Highlands today for the Catholic Leaders Day and Principals retreat with all Principals from the Canberra Goulburn Diocese for the remainder of the week. Please contact Miss Stacey Braun in my absence if you have any pressing issues.
Pick up at the end of the day
Last year we had workers from Snowy Valleys Council come out to observe Gundagai Street at the end of the day around pick up time. It does get congested at that time of the day so it is important that parents continue to get out of their cars and come to get their children from the school gate. We are waiting for the matter to be taken to the Traffic committee. One suggestion was made (it is not always possible) to try and only park on the side of the road closest to the school, in order to leave enough space for cars to pass by on both sides of the road. It can sometimes be a little chaotic with lots of children leaving the school at the same. Please make sure that you supervise your children and siblings at all times to ensure that they are not near the road and you can see them at all times.
Parental controls
On many of the children’s devices when initially set up, parents put their own emails and parental control on the device. This is proving to be troublesome when the children need to access documents such as google docs with their student email as often devices will only link to one email address. It is also tricky to put things on devices such as the NAPLAN lockdown browser as you need permission to download apps. If there is any way that these parental controls can be removed it would be ideal or if the children are aware of codes to get access to their device that would be ideal.
Head lice
Please be aware that there has been a case of head lice. If you find lice in your child’s hair, please make sure that the hair is treated before returning to school.
Blessings for a great week,

Principal
St Joseph’s Feast Day
We welcome our Adelong Community to join us in celebrating our school patron St Joseph on Tuesday 19th March. We will begin with a Learning Showcase in classrooms at 11.30am, followed by Mass at 12pm and a BBQ lunch. We thank our wonderful Community Council who will be providing us with a sausage sizzle at lunch time.
St Joseph was a working man, a carpenter, but he used his hands to also do God’s work in his life. St Joseph married Mary and was Jesus’ foster father.
Easter Story Box
On Wednesday 27th March, all students will participate in an Easter activity at school that requires a shoe box. Please bring your shoe box to school by Tuesday 26th March. If you have any spare shoe boxes at home, it would be greatly appreciated if you can bring them to school.
Easter Raffle
Our Year 6 leaders will hold an Easter raffle to raise money for Project Compassion - Caritas. Caritas Australia is the international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church in Australia.
Year 6 leaders will begin selling tickets on Wednesday 6th March during recess and lunch for $2 each.
The Easter raffle will be drawn after our Easter Shoe Box activity on Wednesday 27th March.
Many thanks,
Stacey Braun

It's the Adelong Show this weekend! The roster for the BBQ still has some spots and we really need to fill them. It would be great if all our families could support this event and pop their name down in a time slot. If you have already, fantastic, if not, now is the time. This is a great way to support our school, as well as our local show.
For those who have offered to help Friday afternoon, we will meet at school around 4pm to load what is needed and then go to the Showgrounds to setup. Thank you for your support.

- Grounds Maintenance Roster
Families please keep an eye on the grounds and when you mow, let the school know you have mowed and the office will contact the next person on the list.
Section A | Section B |
Julian Roche Family | Maher Family |
Paul Roche Family | Williams Family |
Annetts Family | Pearce Family |
We would like if families could check if some of the areas in your allocated section need whipper snipping eg; around trees, rock/rockeries etc.
Please ensure you have re-filled the fuel tanks on the mower or whipper snipper after you finish and advise the school if we require more fuel. Please also advise the school that you have mowed so we can let the next Family know that it is their turn.
Keep up to date with events happening at St Joseph's via our electronic school calendar (please note dates can be subject to change).
