I am hoping that all of our St Joseph’s families had a lovely Easter with family and friends. Fr Joe had a message on Sunday to the Tumut parishioners to rejoice and celebrate that Jesus is risen– sing, dance, eat chocolate, drink wine. I enjoyed the last two requests with my family!
Please keep Fr Joe in your prayers – he is heading home after the sad news that his mother passed away. We will continue to keep him in our prayers and thoughts.
A big thank you to all of our families and friends who came out to the Adelong Golf Course for our Cross Country carnival, especially to our helpers that were on the course encouraging all students and showing them the way! The day ran smoothly in warm conditions and all children did well, giving it their best. The first five finishers in the 8/9, 10, 11 and 12/13 years will progress to the Western Region Cross Country (hosted by St Josephs Adelong and St Marys Batlow) in Batlow on Thursday 2nd May, 2024. We will be asking our families to support the school and come along on the day and lend a hand.
A reminder that when we come back for Term 2 - Tuesday 30th April it will be full winter uniform. Please ensure that all of your child’s uniform are clearly labelled – especially jumpers and jackets. Hats are to be worn all year round.
Anzac Day falls in the last week of the school holidays – Thursday 25th April. It would be lovely to have as many students as we can to march with the school. If your child will be marching with the school please let the school office know.
Blessings for a great week,
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
I hope you had a lovely Easter break. Congratulations to our Easter raffle winners: Anna Roche, Bonnie Reynolds, Emmy Corbett, Billy Bamblett, James Rieger-Moss, Christopher Campbell, Brydee Roots, Taylor Maher, Ollie Corbett, Billy Roche and Braxton Bamblett.
Thank you for your support in the Year 6 Easter raffle, we are very grateful for all the donations received. We raised $310 which will go to Project Compassion.
Easter in a Box
Last week, St Joseph’s participated in the Easter in a Box activity. This activity went through the events of Holy Week and students reflected on Jesus’ journey by making a symbol from each event. Well done to all students who participated so respectfully.
Sacramental Programs
Please let me know if your child/ren will be making any of the sacraments offered this year so I can send you the enrolment details.

St Joseph's Adelong, together with St Mary's Batlow are hosting the Western Region Cross Country in Batlow on Thursday May 2nd, which is week 1, next Term.
This means we need to organise this before holidays are upon us. We will be providing a canteen on the day for a huge 260 competitors and up to 500 people! We need your help to do this. The Community Council has tried to keep it as simple as possible. We will be cooking a BBQ, and selling some drinks, fresh sandwiches and baked goods. There will also be a coffee van at the carnival.
How can you help? Please see the roster attached and pop your name down to help serve and cook the BBQ. You can also help by baking a slice, muffins and biscuits. Otherwise, you may like to keep coordinate the day, setting up, taking supplies up to Batlow, packing up and returning items back to school.
This is a huge carnival for two small schools to host, and it is also an excellent fundraising opportunity. Please help out, many hands will make this a much easier task.

Students in Years 3/4 and 5/6 can participate in the Rugby 10's Gala Day. The gala day will be held at Jarrah Oval, Tumut on Friday 5th April 2024. This is a tackle event so students will need head gear and mouth guards.
This is an opt in event, students who have indicated they would like to participate would have received an event invite through Compass. If you could please attend to consent and questions regarding transport at your earliest convenience.
Parents will transport their child/ren to the event and a teacher will meet them there. A canteen will be available on the day.
Students will need to bring their football socks, football boots (if they have them), fruit break, recess, lunch if not utilising canteen, hat and drink bottle.
Congratulations to both Henry and Billy on their fantastic efforts trying out for the U11's Canberra Goulburn Rugby League Team. Billy made it through to the possibles and probables and Henry was selected for the team.
Henry, as part of the team, will now represent Canberra Goulburn at the MacKillop Trials in Canberra on the 10th of May. We wish him all the best!
Yr 3/4 Netball Gala day
Last Tuesday the 26th of March 2024 most of 3/4 and 5/6 went to Tumut to play netball. Year 3/4 had two teams, one yellow and the other blue. Blue played 4 games and yellow played 3 games. Blue won 3 and tied on the last one. Yellow won 1 and tied the last game. We all learnt new skills and had a great time. Thank you to Miss Braun and Mrs Campbell for coaching up.

5/6 Netball Gala Day
The Netball Gala Day was a great day, especially considering not many of us have played netball. Everyone got a good go and we all had lots of fun. 5/6 played five games of netball versusing St Mary’s Batlow, Franklin Tumut and Tumut Public School (three times). We lost the games against Tumut Public School, won against St Mary’s Batlow and tied against Franklin.
Netball N.S.W. did a great job putting on this gala day. Thank you to Carmel Lemon for coming to St Joseph’s and teaching us all the rules of netball. I also want to thank Miss Soulsby and Mrs Howell for coaching and organising our 5/6 team as well as all the other teachers on the netball day.

St Joseph's enjoyed a glorious weather day last Thursday for the Cross Country at Adelong Golf Course. Thank you to all our families who came to cheer on the students and help on checkpoints around the Course. Congratulations to all our students who participated and ran in very warm conditions, you all did very well and we have a number of students who will now progress through to Western Region.

We would like if families could check if some of the areas in your allocated section need whipper snipping eg; around trees, rock/rockeries etc.
Please ensure you have re-filled the fuel tanks on the mower or whipper snipper after you finish and advise the school if we require more fuel. Please also advise the school that you have mowed so we can let the next Family know that it is their turn.
