The new build is really taking shape with the frames currently being put in place. I would like to thank staff and students for their continued patience whilst one of the main entrances is closed off to allow the new retaining walls to be bricked. The concrete paths and steps will be laid soon and in the holidays, when the concreting is complete that section will be able to be used again.
We had a fabulous Father’s Day Breakfast on Friday 31st August and it was wonderful to see so many dads, Grandparents and special visitors come for a cuppa and a bacon and egg roll. A huge thank you to staff and some wonderful mums who cooked and served the bbq and helped out. We even had our own barista who bought their own coffee machine and made our dads some great coffee! The students did a great job of painting their dad’s portraits – the resemblance was amazing!
A huge thank you to all our helpers on the day and we really are thankful for our wonderful dads and special people that support and love our St Joseph’s students.
Our small schools relay team – Ollie, Lily, Kruz and Billy are busy preparing to participate at MacKillop Athletics in the last week of term. We wish them all the best and we know that they will give it their all.
We will have a Learning Showcase in the last week of term – Tuesday 24th September. Parents are invited to come into their child’s classroom before school between 8.30 am to 8.55 am. If that time is not suitable feel free to pop in after school from 3.15 – 3.45 pm. The students will be able to show their parents or special visitors learning tasks that they are proud of and have worked hard to produce, or some things they would like to show you that they have achieved. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress with your child’s teacher please make an alternate time to meet with your child’s teacher.
I will be on leave for the last two weeks of Term 3 attending the Trans Tasman Conference in Christchurch, New Zealand which is a collaboration between the Australian Primary Principals Association and the New Zealand Principals Federation. I am very fortunate to be attending with 18 other Principals from Canberra Goulburn Catholic Education.
The conference brings together educational leaders from Australia and New Zealand to explore the latest innovations in school leadership, share best practices, and foster collaborative networks. Principals will engage with thought-provoking speakers, attend dynamic workshops, and be inspired by new perspectives as we shape the future of education across the Tasman.
Miss Stacey Braun will be Acting Principal in my absence and can be contacted if you have any queries or concerns.
Thank you for your support throughout Term 3 and I look forward to seeing you all in Term 4.
Blessings for a great week,
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
Congratulations to Angus, Cody and Josey on making the Sacrament of Reconciliation today. It was a beautiful celebration which marks a significant step in their faith journey. Kindergarten have had another busy term here at St Joseph’s. This term, Kindergarten students were fortunate enough to participate in the Reynolds Shearing Excursion at Yaven Creek and a visit to the Tumut Museum. Both experiences enabled students to deepen their existing knowledge whilst learning from others in our community.
Show and Tell has been another highlight this term with all students actively participating in this experience each week. It has been a pleasure watching each students confidence grow each week as well as learning more about one another.
Our Health unit this term has focused on all thing’s safety including road, water, and medicine safety. Our school is a hive of activity again this term, as we watch with anticipation our new school being built outside our classroom window each day. We took our lesson outside last week to hunt for different types of safety signs. Students discovered all types of signs that help keep the builders safe and signs that help keep members of the school safe. Students used ipads to photograph these signs and then record these in their workbooks.
Our current Kindergarten students have been very kind and helpful as we start to welcome our 2025 Kindergarten students during orientation days. We have now completed 2 orientation days and look forward to hosting another 2 sessions in term 4. It has been lovely to see the students rekindle old friendships and buddy up with the new Kindergarten students to show them around St Joseph’s.
During art this term, years 3 & 4 have been studying Indigenous Art. They been weaving some key chains or bracelets.
Next term we will begin swimming lessons for sport. There are entry fees to attend and utilise the pool facilities. If you are applying for a season pass, can you please send the confirmation (receipt or card number) to the office so that the charges are not added to those students prior to the sessions beginning. This will save any confusion with charges.
Please note:
The last day of attendance for Students for Term 3 is Thursday 26th September due to Friday 27th September being a staff development day.
Students will return for Term 4 on Tuesday 15th October 2024.
Save the date: Thursday 12th December - End Of Year Mass and Awards Ceremony.
Early next term we will hold a working bee to predominantly get the vegetable patch up and running (made possible through our successful Snowy Hydro grant). It would be fantastic if there are any parents within our school community with equipment and skills that could help with tasks such as levelling a pad for the garden shed, pouring a concrete slab, putting together garden beds etc. We will also do general maintenance and clean up tasks. Watch this space!

- Grounds Maintenance Roster
With the weather warming up the grass is starting to grow much quicker! Please please keep an eye on the grounds so that they are mowed when required.
When you have completed the mowing, please let the school know so that the office can contact the next person on the list.
Section A | Section B |
Singh Family | Williams Family |
Shiels Family | Pearce Family |
McMahon Family | Frank Corbett Family |
We would like if families could check if some of the areas in your allocated section need whipper snipping eg; around trees, rock/rockeries etc.
Please ensure you have re-filled the fuel tanks on the mower or whipper snipper after you finish and advise the school if we require more fuel. Please also advise the school that you have mowed so we can let the next Family know that it is their turn.
