It was so lovely to welcome our Mums, Grandmas and special visitors into our new classrooms for our Special Mother’s Day morning tea on Wednesday. All students sang a special song to our mums that was complimented by our wonderful students on the glockenspiels!!! A big thank you to Ms Dawson for her musical expertise. Students were really excited to share this special event with the wonderful women in their lives. Thank you to all the special ladies that came to celebrate with us. Our special visitors mean so much to our students and we appreciate all that you do for the students of St Joseph’s. Miss McInerney organised the special Mother’s day event and we thank her for making the morning so special.

It was a very productive Friday afternoon at St Joseph’s last week for our Working bee. A huge thank you to all the families who got so many jobs done – planting the hedge, constructing shelves for our new garden shed, putting together new bench seats and tables, spreading softfall, raking leaves and adding sand to the new pavers. Other parents who couldn’t be there at the working bee have offered to do some other jobs that were on the list. We are very grateful to have such generous parents who are willing to give up their time to ensure our school is looking fantastic.
Staff have had staff meetings facilitated by members of CE staff over the last two weeks. Shaun Dutallis -School Support Lead worked with teaching and administration staff on Compass and its many capabilities. Chris DeBritt - Senior Officer Educational performance unpacked student data and platforms that enables teachers to see all student data in the one place and academic achievement and growth over time.
Our 5/6 students will head off to Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo next week for the next part in their Future Rural Leaders Program. Students are so lucky to be participating in the Zoo snooze and real life conservation and research that is relevant to their local area and the platypus. We wish 5/6 all the best on their adventures and look forward to learning about their wonderful excursion.
Bella our soon to be therapy dog was at school today along with staff from Dog Education Centre. Emma and Brydie went into every classroom with Bella and Mrs Campbell and discussed with the children how we need to keep Bella safe when she is at school and the ways in which we can approach and pat her. We can’t wait for Bella to come into school for two days a week, really soon!

Blessings for a great week

In the Catholic tradition, the month of May is dedicated to honouring Mary, the mother of Jesus. It’s a beautiful time to reflect on her example of love, humility and trust in God. Mary serves as a model for all mothers, demonstrating unwavering faith and selfless love.
A Prayer for May – Honoring Mary
Dear Mary, Mother of Jesus,
Thank you for your love and care.
Help us to follow your example by being kind, patient, and loving every day.
Guide us closer to Jesus, and watch over our families and school.
Mary, we honour you this May.
Amen.

Pope Leo XIV
We share in the joyful news of the elected Pope Leo XIV. Pope Leo was born in Chicago and is the first American to become Pope. We pray for Pope Leo as he begins his papacy - that he may be guided by the Holy Spirit and filled with grace as he takes on this important role of leading the Catholic Church.

This week in English, Kindergarten students are enjoying the storybook Possum Goes to School, written and illustrated by Melanie Carter and Nicola Oram. The book has sparked lots of excitement and curiosity as the children follow Possum’s fun and adventurous journey into the world of school. As part of their learning and to help bring the story to life, the students have begun a creative art activity where they are making their very own paper plate possums. The possums still need to be painted but once completed they will be proudly displayed around the classroom.

In the coming days we will send out an event for our upcoming Selwyn Ski Trip for those who have registered their interest. This event will be for the deposit only. There will be another event that will follow with the remaining charges. In the second event, Parents/Carers are able to select a payment plan option if they wish.
Students will also come home with some forms that will need to be completed and signed. These forms need to be returned to the office by Monday 2nd June.
We also have some spare seats on the bus if any parents wish to pay for a seat.
If you have any questions, please contact the office.
Congratulations to Bonnie who has been selected in the MacKillop Girls Rugby 7's Team! Bonnie will now travel back to Sydney on June 5 & 6th to participate in the NSWPSSA Girl's Rugby 7's.
Good Luck Bonnie!

New Direct Debit Payment Option Coming Soon!
We are pleased to announce that St Joseph’s Adelong has recently introduced the BPoint Enterprise Solution to manage direct debit arrangements for the payment of school fees.
What is BPoint and What Do You Need to Do?
BPoint is a secure Commonwealth Bank payment processing platform designed to facilitate online payments, while ensuring the highest security standards. This system safeguards your financial information using industry-leading security measures.
Our new direct debit platform will allow you to pay school fees using either a bank account or a credit card (excluding AMEX). Please note that payments made via credit card will incur a 0.5% surcharge.
Establishing Direct Debits.
Next week, families will receive an email outlining estimated weekly, fortnightly, and monthly repayment options to ensure all fees are paid by the end of the year. These amounts will also include any outstanding 2024 balances.
What next?
You will receive an email that will provide a start date for direct debits and options for selecting your preferred payment frequency. Once a payment frequency is selected, you will be directed to enter your bank/credit card details. Once the information is entered, you will receive an email from no-reply@bpoint.com.au .The email will contain two links,
- The first link requires confirmation of the direct debit arrangement. Please note that the link will expire within 7 days.
- The second link provides a copy of the eDDRSA for your records.
While using the direct debit payment option is not compulsory, many families find it helpful in staying up to date with their financial obligations.
Keep up to date with events happening at St Joseph's via our electronic school calendar (please note dates can be subject to change).
Mass times for Adelong: 8:30am - 1st & 3rd Sunday.
- Grounds Maintenance Roster
Families please keep an eye on the grounds and let the office know you have completed it so we can contact the next Family on the list.

Please ensure you have re-filled the fuel tanks on the mower or whipper snipper after you finish and advise the school if we require more fuel. Please also advise the school that you have mowed so we can let the next Family know that it is their turn.
