As Term 1 draws to a close, it is great to take a moment to reflect on the many achievements and great events we've shared this term. It has been a wonderful start to the school year, and I am incredibly proud of all our students for their enthusiasm, hard work, and positive attitudes. It has been an extremely busy term with many special events such as our Opening School Mass, Swimming carnival, Cross Country carnival and the Adelong Show. Our students have had many opportunities to represent the school in extra curricular activities such as the Rugby Gala Day, Soccer Gala Day, Netball Gala Day, Netball and Rugby League trials for Canberra Goulburn. Excursions to the Adelong ruins- Adelong Falls, Habitat Day at the Adelong Creek, Library excursion for K12 and a visit from the Light horseman to name a few.
Congratulations to all students who have worked hard for the duration of the term and received Student of the Week awards and Principal awards at our weekly morning assemblies.
Term 2 promises to be another exciting term. We are looking forward to hosting the Western Region Cross Country in the first week of Term with St Mary’s Batlow. Thank you to the parents who have put their names down on the roster for the Cross Country, all help is greatly appreciated. Our 5/6 students are also looking forward to participating in the Young Rural Leaders Program which will see them visit Taronga Western Plains Zoo to continue their great learning about platypus and their habitat.
The most exciting part of returning after the holiday break will be that we will be in our new building for the commencement of Term 2. Students in their classes have been given a tour of the new classrooms and administration building this week and their reactions to their new learning environments has been priceless. We can’t wait to utilise our state of the art of facilities and no words can describe how thrilled we are with our new school. McFarland Architects have designed functional and modern buildings that blend in seamlessly with our current buildings. Cross Build have been a dream to deal with and the workmanship and attention to detail we cannot fault. The facilities team at Catholic Education have made this project happen and again the St Joseph’s community is so very grateful for our new build.
We encourage all families to keep an eye on the school calendar and Compass for upcoming dates and events.
School will finish on Thursday 10th April and Term 2 will begin for students on Tuesday 29th April.
We wish all families a safe and restful break. Thank you for your continued support and for being such a valued part of our school community.
Blessings for the Easter season,
Kirsty Beavan
Principal
Thank you to all students who have purchased raffle tickets and entered in the colouring competition. We look forward to seeing who the lucky winners are at the Easter Hat Parade. Parents are most welcome to attend the parade. We will begin at 12.30pm on Thursday 10th April on the school oval. Tickets are still available during recess and lunch. Raffle tickets are $2 each and $1 to guess how many eggs are in the jar. Thank you for your support.
Holy Week: A Time of Reflection and Renewal
Holy Week is a sacred time, marking the final days of Jesus Christ’s life, His crucifixion, and His resurrection on Easter Sunday. It begins with Palm Sunday, followed by significant days - Holy Thursday, which commemorates the Last Supper, and Good Friday, the day of Jesus’ sacrifice. This is a time for prayer, reflection, and acts of kindness, reminding us of the values of love, faith, and forgiveness. As we come to Holy Week, let’s take a moment to appreciate its meaning and embrace the spirit of hope and renewal that Easter brings.
Many thanks,
Stacey Braun
Religious Education Coordinator

Selwyn Ski Resort Excursion - Expression of Interest
Please, if you haven't done so already, put in your Child/ren's expression of interest for our upcoming Selwyn Ski Resort Trip as we need to finalise our numbers.
Please note: The cost may be subject to change depending on the amount of students attending.
Access to the expression of interest form can be found here
How can you help? Please see the roster attached and pop your name down to help serve and cook the BBQ. You can also help by baking a slice, cake, muffins and biscuits.
This is a huge carnival for two small schools to host, and it is also an excellent fundraising opportunity. Please help out, many hands will make this a much easier task.
Dear St Joseph's families,
We have a missing school hat that is relatively new with Billy Roche's name on it in black texta (which may be a little hard to see) If everyone could please check their children's bags etc to see if they have an extra one.
Many thanks everyone for your assistance.
NSW PSSA Swimming Championships
We would like to wish Ollie all the best for his swim on Thursday 10th April at the NSW PSSA Swimming Championships representing MacKillop!
Last week, K/1/2 enjoyed visiting the Adelong Library outreach service. Leticia, the librarian, read some stories, then we had our recess and had a great time playing in the park.

In Science, Years 1 and 2 have been learning about the needs and features of living things. To finish off our unit we chose an animal, researched what their habitat looked like and then created a diorama. The 1/2 class worked so hard at creating their dioramas and their finished designs were amazing!

Year 5/6 Habitat Day Excursion

Yesterday, 8th April, Years 3-6 participated in the Tumut Netball Gala Day. It was a wonderful day and all students played well
ANZAC day this year falls on the last Friday of the school holiday period. We would love for as many students as possible to join us for this procession.
Keep up to date with events happening at St Joseph's via our electronic school calendar (please note dates can be subject to change).

Please ensure you have re-filled the fuel tanks on the mower or whipper snipper after you finish and advise the school if we require more fuel. Please also advise the school that you have mowed so we can let the next Family know that it is their turn.
If you are on Section A, whilst the new build is underway, access to most of the area is blocked off. Can we please ask that you mow the front nature strip, between the tennis court and the front fence, between the tennis court and the classroom and around the front of the school building near the water tank.
Mass times for Adelong: 8:30am - 1st & 3rd Sunday.
